pod xt lives are a bit shitty compared to the pod xt pro and the pod xt bean.

its because its harder to update and download patches etc. if you dont want all that then the pod xt live is good for you, especially if your playing live (as the name suggests).

ok, now the pod xt range offers you the best metal amp modeling and it offers you good amp modeling for other types of music aswell!

however, its not suitable for playing live, dont get me wrong, it will sound good live, but it wont be as good as a proper stack. its main uses are for recording and home practicing which it performs amazingly well for.

im getting one within the next few weeks, i've been held up because of exams, but theyre nearly over and then once they are i can get my pod xt.

ok, now about these patches, these are files which contain a partiular set up. these patches contain information about what head, cab, mic, settings, effects that are used in that particular rig. so wat people in the podxt community do is they recreate the sounds and tones produced by bands and then distribute the patches over the web. you can download the patches and open it up on your pod xt and then play your guitar through your favorite band's virtual asetup and settings. the results are pretty accurate and imo, awesome.

as i was saying, apparently its harder to create and swap patches on the pod xt live which is why the pod xt pro and the bean is better.

for effects, its decent, but not as good as the boss gt-6 or 8.

to break it down:
boss gt-6/8 is good for effects
pod xt (all types) is good for amp modelling

there are other modellers on the market, but if you want high gain amps and metal heaven then go for the podxt.

for example, check this out, the guitars were all done on the podxt.

http://s12.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=...VC1ASBIEEM4O1UA

now isnt that impressive?

bottom line, yea, its worth the money, but i think that if your not going to play live then the pod xt bean would be a better option as its more flexible and a lot cheaper.

so yea, overall, go for it, you wont be sorry

i hope that helps

I wouldn't get the POD XT Live, as User01 said, they're a real pain to update etc., ive got a POD Pro, and i just put it in a 3u flight case rack (with a power conditioner), and its fine to take to a mates for a jam, and its much easier to fiddle with when its at chest height as opposed to on your feet. I may sell my Pro and get an XT in the future, or just get an XT off ebay

i was just breakin balls or joking around. yes i did make that track, just a long while back. linkin park doesnt really use their guitar player like most pop bands. i know what a seven string sounds like i've heard that
steve vai song that kicks ass K'm-Pee-Du-We. that has got to be one of the best tracks for a seven string i've heard. u should check it out,if u have a seven string

i've been playing scence, late 2002 (age 11). the reason why is: i saw my friend play arpeggios from hell and i was trying to impress this girl at my school. so i played for like 13 hours a day for the first 2 years. thats all i really do, cuz its somthing i love. ohh me and that one chick, yea we're still going out. im sending my stuff to guitar player u know that mike varney's(shrapnel records) spotlight.
so look out for me.
whats ur story?
