yet another 7 string thread...

ok, i didnt post this is another 7 string thread because i didnt wanna "hijack" it.

well i need a few questions answered and a few suggestions please

ok, well here are the questions:

1. is the string spacing on a 7 string smaller to that of a 6 string?
2. is a 7 string suitable for someone with big hands?
3. are complex chords harder to do on a 7 string?

ok, now i need a few suggestions as to what 7 strings i should get. i dont have much money, my budget is about £300 (roughly $600). so yea, any suggestions?

i have my eye on the ibanez rg7321, it has a nice striped wizard II neck and a fixed bridge.

any other guitars like that within my price range?

thanks!

To your questions:
1: Usually, the strings on 7string guitars are not any differently spaced. The fretboard/neck is slightly larger to allow room for the seventh string.
2: Like all guitars, 7stringers come in different shapes and sizes to suit your physical needs and wants. They actually might be better for a large-handed person since the fretboard/neck is slightly enlarged.
3: You can, of course, play anything on a 7string that you played on a 6string. There will be the extra string on there in case you want to experiment even more with making chords, yet it should not be difficult to do anything that you could do with a 6string.

Suggestions on brands? Can't help you much there. Just get whatever looks good/sounds good/feels good (if you have the privilege to test it out before your purchase). I've owned a Schecter before, and it was great (although I didn't like the locking system on the bridge). The only other 7stringer I've owned was a Dillion. It was okay, but surely not a huge name-brand. Just make sure you don't buy a peice of shit, and it should be fine.

and my blessings go upon you in hope that you do not get flamed for a casually repeated thread.

1) String spacing will be realtive to that of a 6 string.
In the case of say the RG7321, the spacing will be relative to that of a RG321.

2) Strange question. I'd guess so, it really depends on the user.

3) About as complex as a normal 6 string.

£300 could buy you the RG7321, forementioned. Dean Avalanche 7 and Avalanche Ultra 7 (Ultra = Floyd equipped). Those are probably the most popular in that price range.

Brands such as Squire, Shine and Cort all produce guitars in that price range but are less widely availible.
That however, is just the new market.
Plenty more availible used.

You'll fit EMG's in by removing the existing pickups, installing the EMG's and placing the battery in the control cavity.

yea, ino, but the shape of the actuall emg 7 string pickup is a different shape to that of a normal 7 string pickup. so that means i have to adjust the pickup cavity inorder to accomodate the differently shaped pickup.

see, the emg 81/7 is just a rectangle pickup where as the routing on pretty much every 7 string is shapped tightly around a pickup similar to a dimarzio evo or an sd etc etc.

ino how to install a pickup

First of all, I won´t buy a 7 string guitar. I bought a Scjhecter balckjack c7 7 stringed guitar and I don´t like it any more. Before you buy one try to play wirh another one. Mine has the neck very thick and the sounding isn´t as good as I thought it was. I prefer 6 stringed one downtuned to B, for example.

It has one good thing, when you play with a 7 string and then take a 6 stringed one, it seems that its easier to play the guitar.

My 7 string has 0,76 strings, it looks like a bass guitar and plays like it . I want to sell, it,. if you want it tell me I sell it in 750€.

7 STRINGS (In my opinion) (I´ve got small hands)

I would encourage you to get the seven string. I waited 17 years to get one (I am assuming that you have not been playing for that long) and getting used to that 7th string after playing on 6 for so long was a real bitch! lol

As far as brands go, the higher end Ibanez's are always a safe way to go, but are probably out of your price range.
Schecter has a strong following, with their owners saying they are a good guitar for not a whole lot of money.
I myself play a Carvin DC727. It is an awesome guitar (as is every Carvin) and they can be had for very little money on ebay. You can't purchase a better 7-string for $400-$600 (if you can score one for that, which you most likely can)

Go with 10-56 gauge strings. They would play much better and wouldn't be loose or muddy at B standard.

The thing is that these strings aren´t loose nor muddy, but I think 7 strings are a lot of strings for me. I´m thinking I´ll never play fine a 7 string guitar (I adore wizard necks, so that may be the answer)

I´m triyng to sell it, so I won´t have it any more (I think I´ll got a Customized RAN)(6 Strings one)

I've never seen a 7-string in my town, I doubt anyone has one... I'm curious whether strings are harder to find? Because at least here you only see 6-string guitar string sets... so I guess it would be useless( why the guitar without the strings?...)
