FX loop help...
Right, so i've got my Laney VH100r and my POD, and i want to have the pod in the clean channel of the Laney, so i can use all the tones from it. I've put it in the FX loop of the clean channel, and turned the 'effects' knob to 10, but it still mixes the fx loop and the clean signal, which isn't what i want, because i don't want a clean (from the Laney) and a distorted (POD) signal mixed, i just want the POD... can anyone help me with this? The VH100r has an 'insert' loop at the back, and there is a joint return for the clean and distortion channel fx loops. The attatched picture shows the back and the connections avaliable (i don't have a clue what the insert does, and i can't make much sense of the manual)
Cheers!

I think:
the effect loop of the clean channel is after the clean preamp, right into the poweramp, same as the distorted channel...
If there ain't any signal going thru the clean channel than the clean channel won't effect the loop..
the reason why there are one loop for each channel is because you might want different effects on the two different channels without the need of tapdancing on all pedals for example..
if you didn't understand, what I said was that you are doing it right, the clean channel won't effect the tone if you plug the pod into the effect return of it, it should be the same with the other channel

It seems to be like this:
Code:
fx loop \
> power amp
preamp (clean) /
so the signal is mixed, which i don't want, i just want the fx loop signal... what exactly does the insert thing do? Sorry, im new to big amps

I think it's like this:
preamp - fx send - fx return - poweramp
so if you put something into the fx return, you will bypass the preamp..
there ain't any preamp signal unless you plug something into the preamp, btw, you do plug your guitar into the pod I hope?

I thought that was how it worked too
I plug the guitar into the Laney, and the POD is in the effects loop of the clean channel, so i use the amps distortion, then switch to the clean channel and can use the POD as i normally would with all my custom tones.
The fx loop signal definately seems to be mixed though, because even with the 'effects' knob on the clean channel on 10, i get a mix of the clean signal from the amp, and the distortion of the POD. If it was preamp - fx send - fx return - poweramp, i wouldn't get this?
