At first I never listened to their music since I figured they were nu metal. But since I checked out this thread a while ago I decided to give them a try since the term "circus metal" interested me. So I downloaded numerous songs since I have a cable modem and it takes only a couple seconds to get a large pile of music. Not too bad, they're different I'll give them that.

Some of the songs seem too odd for my taste but there were some songs I did like out of the bunch. Headless and Leper Friend really stood out which to me really sounded like the band Bile (which is the live band in the Dee Snyder movie Strangeland). But my two favorites are songs they do that isn't really even metal: Pogo the Clown & Deja Vu.

I can't stop listening to Pogo the Clown. They play it in the '50s big swing bang sort of way with horns and piano until near the where some guitar and drums are added. The lyrics are about the serial killer John Wayne Gacy who dressed as a clown named Pogo and entertained children. So in other words, the lyrics are creepy but it's awesome becauce the singer's voice is upbeat like you would hear in any big swing band. The best line that gives me chills every time I hear it: "I spoke to the Devil the other and John is doing fine."

Deja Vu reminds me of something you would hear in a bar or diner scene in a Quentin Tarantino movie. Just a slow moody rockish song but with lyrics that sound like were written by a serial killer. The whole song it sounds like the singer is romancing someone but the lyrics suggest he murdered her in a dream and he's going to do it again. I like the end where the music picks up but that takes about two minutes so it's not exactly better than Pogo.

ps: I'm sorry. I normally don't post such long rants such as this one but it's been a long night and had nothing better to do to. Trust me, I wouldn't buy one of their albums they just have 2 songs I really really like. If everything song was like those 2 then yes I would. Sorry, there I go ranting again. I'm not asking you to read this I just wanted to get it out of my system.

Hehehe, Pogo the Clown... "cut you up in little bits, cut you up in little bits!"

Yeah. Dude, you still have to get 'The Acid Memoirs', apparantly the dude wrote it the day after his first acid trip. That song has the best lyrics, and it sounds sortof Nightmare Before Christmas-like...

----
In my youth I took a trip
My first initial acid trip
And it hit me like a ton of bricks

My eyes they quickly dialated
I began hallucinating
At the tender age of seventeen

As I watched the tv
My dog speaking to me
Telling me I’m going insane

I recall a scene it’s halloween
And I am dressed as a drag queen
Peaking to the point of no return

I met a man I shook his hand
He spoke I could not understand
He was covered with flies and afterbirth
-----

After this I pretty much have no idea what the hell the dude's on about.
I don't know why I posted the lyrics... but the song kicks ASS!
