Eh, don't get me wrong, he is fast and good. He uses his shreding as a crutch for his unimaginative/uncreative visions. .. . He is a hell of a player but he can't write for shit. . . that kind of brings him down a lot. . . talk about a fatal flaw.

He's actually good ... but he's not as good as he said he was ( then again --- who is? ), and even then he was an idiot ... When I asked him to fulfill his promise of being able to shred, he did that, and he did it very well. Dude can fuckin shread the board. Sweeps and runs like a mad dog. I watched the video of him with the taps n shit. fareri_shread2.wmv I was impressed very much, but totally have to agree with the rest of you guys, there's no harmony or melody. Even his phrasing sucks, the licks and runs don't ever have the feeling of resolving. The bass slapping sound part was kick ass though. Even when I improv, the music, the phrases, ... they have meaning or should I say feeling, even if it's not a 3 octave sweep with taps @ 180bpm. I think, in the end it's all about the music, not how fast you can alternate pick, or how many legato tricks you throw in, and well this totally proves my point.
