2 man band, playing grind/gore metal, whatever you want to call it


Don't think the 120w solid state will be loud enough, but has anyone tried out the 350w one? Recommended?

if it's just a drummer and guitarist... 120w pushing four 12's will suit just fine for volume... as no drummer no matter how heavy handed and no matter how big the drums and cymbals are, can create that much volume.

and the simple 2 man layout also avoids the "frequency war".

Like xdx said, 120w is plenty, most people will never need anything more than a 120w amp. If you are playing a huge show, then the venue will almost certainly have a house PA system to mic you through.
At one local club at a battle of the bands, I even saw someone using a 30w crate miced through the PA .

Try the 350 watt one, if you have the finances get it. They are better than the 120 watt heads. If I'm not mistaken, it is'nt really 350 watts, but even then I know that the Shockwave Crate is louder and better ... I tested them both side by side. And the sound is much, much fuller, which is ideal because with this setup you want to take up as much room, sonically, as possible.
