Getting a DiMarzio pickup ( one of the Evolution or Fred models ) will only sound better in your guitar, but I doubt seriously that your leads will have the same aural quality that Vai and Satriani have. For one, the woods in their guitars are only the finest. Two, they use only the finest amplifiers. Three, they use only the finest racks, and they have more racks than they can count, probably. The combined cost of Vai/Satriani's single rig is a small fortune in itself. And most importantly, they have only the finest hands, and that is priceless. Eddie Van Halen talked about Ted Nugent picking up his Kramer, playing through Eddie's exact equipment, and still sounding like Nugent.

Not to discourage you from getting upgrades --- By all means do it, you'll only sound better. But I am telling you the truth. And besides, never underestimate the value of having an original sound.

Vai and Satch play Basswood Bodied guitars... far from the finest.

They just have about 5 guitar tracks

yeah i understand that side of it of course
im never gonna get the perfect sound to match just by sticking
in new pickups but i can play quite a few vai songs and quite a few satriani's
and my pickups are really weak.like most guitars at that price

if i could choose between my rg 220 and a jem or a chrome boy
it's pretty obvious what id choose,

Just go with any great pickup. You can't go wrong.

there guitars arent THAT fine... my parker is better

they via plays carvin legacys(not that fine) with a modded sd-1(yeh, a pedal). and satch plays peavey jsx's and xxx's.

but i do agree on the hands... having the exact same rig with the exact same settings and being able to still sound 10 times better, is what sets apart shitty guitarists from amazing guitarists.

Vai hasn't been playing the Legacy for awhile, and Carvin is getting mad

You'd think Steve Vai/Joe Satriani would ask for a guitar with nicer woods ...
