what bands use them? I think they might not always use the same guitars and maybe switch between pickups sometimes you know
I like it for cleans on my strat copy... otherwise they just get in my way

Exactly, they get in the way of picking, hence they suck and piss me off.

on the cheap yamaha im playing, it has: a single coil at the neck, singe in the middle, and humbucker at the bridge. ive never hit it with my pick--- i pick in a way that like, only the tip of the pick passes over the string.. i never dig in. even when i do pinch harmonics it doesnt get in the way. i guess its just because i learned to play on it, and to avoid it. anyways, its never been a problem.. im confused on how/why you would have your pick far enough below the strings to hit the middle pickup while picking....

i dont have as much of a problem with there bein a single coil in the middle, but when you've got a humbucker in the middle thats when its annoying.

You mean a guitar with 3 pickups, or 2 but one of them is in the middle? I have one where it is in the middle. It doesn't sound to different than anything else, it doesn't give me an "awesome clean tone" or anything.

i mean a guitar with three humbucking pickups, the middle humbucker always pisses me off (something which i have already stated). I find middle pickups give a fair mixture of bass and treble bite which i why i find there alright. What pickups u got in the middle position?

I like the mid pickup for that nice hollowy lead tone it gives, but it's not use for metal most of the time. And yes, it gets in the way of picking.

What's a good middle pickup to accompany a X2N in the bridge and a PAF pro in the neck. The key is versaitility. It would be nice if the middle could help accompany the neck or the bridge depending on how I got it switched. Any suggestions? Also, is it common to see a guitar f-spaced in the bridge and not in the middle and neck? I'm replacing all the pickups on my Ibanez RG570. They come with those DiMarzio V1, S1, V7 pups. They actually sound decent for stock pups. Should I just use the S1 middle single coil for the X2N and PAF pro. I really either play straight bridge or straight neck pup, but would like to have the ability to use more configurations. I'm open to any and all suggestions and comments. Thanks!

I dont really like using middle pickups.
I like the tones at either the bridge or neck best.
Clean neck sounds are Win as fuck
