japanese influenced ambient band
im looking for a band that has a similar style to Uruk-Hai's experimental album "A Night In The Forest" (which is like an hour and a bit of ambience)...but has a kinda Japanese influenced feel to it...

Sorry, maybe you should try an ambient forum instead of a metal forum.

point taken, thought a japanese BM band may have gone in the same direction Uruk-Hai went with that album....

Sigh rules. Catchy guitars, black metal vocals, and REALLY trippy Mini-Moogs and other weird instruments. Get "Imaginary Soniscape".

You may want to check out a geezer called Ryuichi Sakamato, he's been doing electronic music since the 80's and he did the music for the 'Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence' film in which he also co-starred with David Bowie.
He uses traditional instruments and might be up the street your looking for.
Also I recall a band called Mono who I think are Japanese and they do chilled out stuff.
Plus there is also Boris if you want the trippy stoner stuff.
Failing that there is always film soundtracks and the Japanese do a very fine line in crazy head fuck films!
Other Japanese bands: Mad Capsule Markets, Vow Wow, SOB, The 5,6,7,8's. Shonen Knife.

Haha! I was refering to Japanese bands in general and not just the ambient genre at that point! Though I could see how a 'Scum' era Napalm Death influenced Asian band could create a certain ambience!
