I don't know if anyone has posted this already.

But I was wondering what everyone thinks of Dave Mustaine kicking Dissection off the Metalist Festivial (a gig which was 100 percent confirmed) because he refuses to share the stage with "Satanic Bands" because of his new beliefs.

Mustaine was also willing to cancel Megadeth's Greek tour dates because one of the supporting acts was Rotting Christ. But then when someone asked Dave if he minds if they played with them. He said

"Yes, I did say I would prefer not to play on concerts with Satanic bands. That doesn't mean I won't, it doesn't mean I would not talk with the bands either, (sometimes it is just for fun anyway with these bands)"

OK he kicks Dissection off but leaves Rotting Christ on. And with his statement "sometimes it's just for fun". Yeah it's true but how would he know if Dissection was serious or not when he never even talked to them?

And my friend (I don't know if this is true) said that Dave refuses to play Looking Down The Cross, Devil's Island, The Skull Beneath The Skin, Black Friday, Bad Omen, bassically any of his songs with "evil" or "satanic" refrerences.

So yeah what do you guys think about what Dave is doing?

When will people realise....Dave Mustaine incredible guitarist, fantastic song writer, maybe not so hot a singer, but a total dick when he opens his mouth to talk about something!
All his career he's opened his trap and put his foot in it!
Anybody remember his speach in Northern Ireland in the late 80's? Dedicating Anarchy in the UK to the IRA was not a clever idea. Wasn't there a riot and Megadeth gave Ireland a wide birth for many years(this was also the inspiration for Holy Wars).
When he was on the 'wagon' and drink and drug free he got into hissy fits with tour partners if they wanted to have a beer etc.
On the Clash of the Titans tour he refused point blank to go on after Slayer and daily slagged the other bands off to the press!
Need I go on?

As for not playing any of those old classic tunes...when did he last play them? I saw 'em live 7 years ago and he played nothing of the old stuff apart from 'In My Darkest Hour' and 'Peace Sells'!!!!!!!?????
The fact is Dave always has his panties in a bunch about something and it usually involves his latest lifestyle trip.

Well he can still play and perform very well, but his writing just will never be what it used to be, especially with these 3rd rate guitarists he uses.


Dave Mustaine is still my idol, but I will admit, he needs to lighten up with this religious business. I guess a midlife crisis really changes a guy...

Devil's Island? Did your friend actually read that name in particular or did he just pull it out of his ass? Devil's Island has nothing to do with satanism. Devil's Island was a prison colony and the song is about a criminal who is spared execution and sent there instead.

I also don't get Looking Down the Cross, The Skull Beneath the Skin, and Bad Omen. Sure, those songs all have something to do with religion in one way or another, but I'm pretty sure he hasn't played any of those songs for years anyway. In fact, I have a bootleg where he plays Black Friday, and he says something like "I haven't played this in 10 years, I told myself I would never play it again, but fuck it, I'm playing it."

If Dave actually has played Looking Down the Cross, The Skull Beneath the Skin, or Bad Omen any time in the past 10 years and somebody has mp3s, PM me and I'll trade you for them. I'd also be interested in any recent versions of Black Friday, but only if the Good Mourning part is played as well.

I am very glad to hear this, I'm not really a Megadeath fan, but I have mad respect for him now. He certainly knew that this would piss off a fair amount of his "fans" but he went ahead and did it anyway. Very cool.

I don't know - most genuine Megadeth fans would care very little for some gay black metal band anyway. And if they do care about Dissection then Megadeth doesnt need them anyway.

Devil's Island was a French prison colony in South America, I think off the coast of what's now known as French Guayana. It's supposed to be the inspiration for Kafka's In the Penal Colony and can be seen in the movie Papillon with Steve McQueen, which, as is usual for McQueen movies, features a prison break.

Whoever pointed out the 'irony' that a man in a band named Megadeth doesn't like Satanism needs to recall that death is neither Satanic nor anti-Christian. Sometimes, you guys really surprise me.

Devil's island is in the Caribbean Sea. I went there on my Honeymoon. It's far from grim actually.

If Dave is still alive, and if my band ever makes it. I am going to beat Dave Mustaines ass. And I really like megadeth. BUT I LOVE DISSECTION. So Dave is a faggot, and when I see Megadeth again, which I will, I will yell at Dave and call him a pussy xtian faggot for not letting superb bands like Dissection share the stage with him. Though Dissection may be weak from prison(jon hehe) they are far from done with. Dissection will get better, try taking a 7 year break from rehearsing, see how you feel going on stage after that asswipes.

The solo's have slipped a lot since Dave's Rust days.

The kid in the video seems like an exact version of Dave at a younger age...relation seems like a possibilty.

And I'm with Soulinsane...Megadeth simply is better than Dissection. Bands that sell an image (read: Dimmu Borgir, Slipknot, etc.) piss me off.
