first guitar
where is you first guitar, and would you ever get rid of your first guitar?
i personally wouldnt, becuase its my first, and im sure i will get more in the future.
but as crappy as it is, its my first guitar and i hope to keep it forever.
if i got a custom ran along with my current guitar and i then had to get rid of one of them for some reason or another, i would get rid of the ran...simple as that.
i could always get another custom later
yea this is a pointless thread, but the board is a bit dry at the moment and im bored
neways, yea, what would you do?

My first guitar was a Kramer Striker. I played it some, not enough, and then bought a bass so I could play ska. anyone remember ska? like 98-99 ish?
anyway haha, I ended up attempting to mod the kramer and failed because I'm impatient. scrapped the body, bought a new body on ebay, bolted the neck to it and that's as far as it's gotten. It's still in the corner waiting for some love, which it will eventually get.
so there you go, my first guitar is in the dump. well the body anyway.

all i can say is you guys were lucky to even have a good make 1st guitar
i had a session pro stratocaster in red with kinda scalloped frets
and to prove how shit they were they were manufaturers of drum kits.

Mentioned this in diff threads but...
First was a pawn shop Ibanez EX
One humbucker and two single coils.
I paid under 150.00 for it 5 years ago and of my 3 elects....is my best axe.
It stays in tune 10 times longer than my Epiphone or Squier.....I'll keep it forever I hope.

then a jackson warrior xt

Ah, my first guitar was a Fender Mexican Strat, I love it to fucking bits, and it's the guitar I primarily still use, even though I've got an RG550.

I started with an Epiphone SG standard. . . I wouldn't have gotten rid of it and I haven't yet. . . My ex. . She and I had our names engraved in it because I was going to keep it "forever". Four years would make you think so but alas I was thrown a curveball on the path of paved shit we call life. I paid like 189 for it, the next week I got detention(for the first time.) As a bribe to keep me out of trouble my mom bought me a Crate 15 watt amp. . . I thought that was pretty cool but like 2-3 years later I was kicked out of school. . .that kinda sucked. Now of course, I've went from Ibanez RG 570(before the 1570 models) to a PRS santana SE(this one I will definitely keep. . . specially since I plan to eventually use mostly PRS) then I got an ESP EC-1000(in my opinion better than any Gibson les paul out there). I guess my true "first" guitar would be some piece of shit Yamaha SJ-180, it was like the only thing my dad left for me. . . it has the greatest sentimental value since it's all my dad ever gave me. . . as usual I'm rambling.

Mine was a vintage. Don't know what model, but looked like a squire strat. It was in sunburst.
I gave it away to someone who was starting, I had no use for it any more and it wasn't really worth anything.
I got a tanglewood baretta jetstream, which I sold a few months ago.
I currently have an Ibanez rocket roll II, which I'm very fond of, and a vintage wraith - which I don't especially like.

I took apart my Epiphone and sold all the parts, body, neck.. ect on Ebay and made twice as much as it cost new. I destroyed my Squier... litterally. Still have the body and parts of the neck.. I wanted to see what was inside the neck.. I found a crappy truss rod and a really sloppy truss rod route.

Didn't I answer this somewhere before?
Probably - years ago before most of you cunts were around.
Anyway - the first guitar that I ever had was a cheap, little accustic that is in my cupboard somewhere. You have to love small children with small guitars that are still to big to get their little fingers around the fretboard - and their little arms around the body.

My first was a crappy little Bronze Warlock. It came in a starter pack. Guitar, 10W amp, strap, bag, strings, picks. It had a humfucking pickup in the bridge position, and that was it. No neck pickup. I don't even think they make those anymore. I shouldn't have sold it, it might be a vintage some day. haha.
It was actually pretty good for the money. The whole package for $200. I sold the guitar and the amp to my lead guitarist for $100. It played pretty good for a cheap little piece of shit, good action, great playability, and it sounded pretty good too. Still does. I got rid of it because I bought a Bronze Warlock with two hum fucking pickups, because I wanted to have a good clean sound, as well.
I also have a LTD Explorer EX-102, and a Mitchell accoustic. The Mitchell cost $130 and it plays awesome!!! I have never played an accoustic with such low action. The strings are so fucking low, they almost touch the fucking neck. It does tend to have a bit of a buzzing sound if you don't put your fingers in exactly the right spot, it is very unforgiving. But that's a good thing, because it motivates me to strive for perfection. Full bodied mahagony top, sounds badass as hell. Steel strings.

get it, its definately worth the 300-500$... i got mine for $399, and it was definately a huge deal. I bet the binding, custom inlays and whammy bar alone are worth that.
I havent found another guitar in that price range that has such a nice feel --i need thin necks so gibsons and stuff are out of the question... fucking small hands.
The only thing that i found came close is a Jackson Warrior... i dont konw which one, but it was like $800.

same ere, i hate gibsons and epi's and guitars like that because 1.) theyre ugly 2.) fat necks 3.) small frets
well theyre generally like that
i love super THIN necks, the wizard necks are perfect for me. i have massive hands but i love thin necks
btw, im not too fond of jacksons, only the customs and the high ranged ones are good

my first guitar was a peavey raptor.
bought for Ł80. and at that price its a fucking beauty.
now i have 2 ibanez, (rg550, rg1720) and a gibson sg (proper one) im getting more soon.
since i bought it, i have taken it apart, painted it with gloss paint, drawn with permanent marker all over it, ripped the electronics out so i could see what was going on, and grown up.
its currently by my bedside, with its guts all hanging out,
I would never sell it, even if i could get Ł500 for it. (its not worthŁ10)
Ł501, now thats different. make me an offer.

My first guitar is this random custom brand i bought 2nd hand with a peavy 30w amp and lead n shit for $200. I was stoked, nice lookin, nice to play, sounds pretty good. Has a humbucker and 2 singles, and a floyd rose bridge. Still got it, and never gonna get rid of it, when i get a new one (hopefully soon) its gonna go up on the wall.
I want to find a cheap 2nd hand strat, or the PRS santana that i saw looked pretty good for its price, someone mentioned one in this thread.
My first guitar was some like $50 kids electric which i had wen i was like 5 lol, i never played it tho, never learnt. Im not sure where that went, i think we mighta given it to a charity or somethin with a bunch of other crap. I have a little 3/4 acoustic which was my moms, its pretty shagged now but, bridge tore clean off it the night i put steel strings on guess it wanted nylons.
Now i have a pretty crappy sonic acoustic, but i can manage.

My first guitar was the worst guitar you can ever get. It was a Yamaha set, with a cheap 10 watt amp. Ever since I bought my new Ibanez rg series I let the old one rot somewhere in a cupboard collecting dust.

My first was a CSL Deluxe, basically an Ibanez, Gibson Les Paul studio copy.
Right now, its in a case and a tool box as I'm "restoring" it to a nicer condition.
The pickups are custom built and sound very very good. But, the tuners and bridge are pretty much at the end of their life so they'll need replacing.

My first 'real' guitar was a mexician fender strat. Quickly upgraded the bridge PU to a SD hotrail, still plays like a dream.

My first guitar was a very cheap Jay Turser Jaguar copy with a humbucker. Everything was cheap, the guitar sounded ok for certain sounds. Otherwise a piece of crap - I have no sentimental attachment to it.

my first guitar was some acoustic from the swap meet, bought it for $40. i didn't have to think twice about trashing it too, it totally fucked my fingers up and the action was way fucked up. i had a special moment with it though before i used it for bon fire wood.

my first guitar is lying in pieces under my bed. And I could care less about it. It was an "audition", it had some wierd metal pickup, and sounded like a monkey farting in a can. But now I have my LTD 7-string ,and I'm about to get a used Ibanez for 125$

I think parts of my first guitar may be in a mate's shed. The components are in a box with other guitar bits in my bedroom. It was just some Strat knock-off and no great loss. It's been many, many years since I've seen it.

As long as they make an contribution to the discussion, rather than making an obvious statement that has been made 1000 times before.
My first guitar was a crappy Aria sunburst strat. I customised it with a new pickguard and a SD JB humbucker int he bridge, but I took it out when I bought my new guitar. I still have it, It lies in the corner, without PU's and strings, but someday I might buy a Invader or something and play it again, even tough it's still a crappy guitar with a warped neck.
I would not even bother selling it, it was sooo cheap..

My first guitar was a Kay strat style copy. It was 70's brown sunburst with one of those old bigsby style trems that looked like car suspension. The neck was nice to play but the pick-ups were these strange sardine tin looking things and I had a cheap amp so it sounded like whales farting in a sea of manure! I didn't mind as it was cheap, I learnt my first Sabbath, AC/DC and Maiden stuff on it. About 6 months later I upgraded to a Hondo SG copy and a Marshall 15 watt then after that I went on to several Les Paul/SG copys, Yamaha RGZ and RGX, a Hohner flying V and Jackson RR.

My first guitar was a piece of plywood, lol. Shittiest guitar I have ever ever seen. I mainly just use it for practice repainting. It's fun.

Samick Strat copy. Didnt wanna lose it, threw in 2 Dimarzios and a SD Hot Rails, changed the pickguard and tuners, fixed up action/truss.
It's my current main guitar since my jackson's out of commission for a bit (getting it set up). It's reeaaaalll nice.

My first one was - is - a J&D Stratocaster copy. And from the moment I first gripped its neck I knew:
Till death do us part.

Mine - Yamaha RGX121ZL Black Lefty
Plays nicely but it needs stronger pickups. I played a lefty Ibanez RG570 and some bits I preferred my Yamaha to. I was thinking of dropping a Bare Knuckle Warpig into the bridge. Either at Christmas or in March my second comes: Schecter C-7 Blackjack lefty cometh.
