Rack cases?
I'm building a rack (it's coming along decently) but have yet to buy a case. considering the units I'm buying, it comes out to 6 spaces (Sonic maximizer, EQ, Preamp, power conditioner, Power amp). Should I get a larger case, because of heat issues maybe? or just because it would be better to have more space in the case of upgrades? Also, should I get a DBX 215 eq or alesis M-EQ 230?

I don't believe heat will be a issue but you might want a few extra spaces for later. An 8 space rack case will give you room to pack cables too.

Ok thanks... Any suggestions on the EQ? Also, what brand case should I go for?

i say buy an 8 space just in case... once you're into a rack system you'll want to have the extra room to put stuff in and out of the rack, and it's such a pain to have to up the size of your rack because you didn't plan ahead.
so you can just use the 6 spaces of an 8 space and then just have a 2u rack drawer. until you get GAS.
i like gator and skb, lightweight is nice. my grundorf was more weight than protection

Alright, that sounds good. I would go for a Carvin EQ soul, but I want to stick with a single space EQ, but I still want two channels so I can run both in my loop.

what does it matter if its two chans or not? Like the sonic maximizers have 2 chans, why would you need that?

Because you can run 1 eq in the loop then the other direct in.

Oh, alright, I'd only be using one side of my power amp anyway (Carvin DCM600).

be careful with that, you might need a dummy load for one side.. or if you can bridge it to run mono that's the best way to do it.

well, that's not what you origionally said, you said you would only be running out of one side.. which isnt bridging it.
that would leave you with one side pumping the watts into nothing, which is bad and can fry the amp. it's especially bad in tube amps.
bridging is taking the stereo signals and putting them together in mono form.

Yeah, and since most power amps made today have a mono plug, thats what I'd be using.
