wiring emg 89

HEY! i've just picked up an 85 and 89, and am wiring em up.

This is stupid, but i just want this pickup to be a straight up humbucker; I'm not interested in tapping the coil. Now the white wire is the lead, and the sheilding is the ground. What about the other wires? do i ignore them or do i have to connect them together or something?

When i put in my TB-4 i had to connect the red and white wires together to avoid splitting the coil.

Thanks for anyone willing to help or just make fun of me for getting emgs.

wait
check this out

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...01/diagimp2.jpg

i made that diagram with the help of the ppl at project guitar.
im using an emg 81 and an 89 however, but the wiring would be exactly the same as the 81 and the 85 have the exact same wiring.

i think its best to wire it as coil tap, and if you dont want to use the coil tap feature, then dont use it, but i would rather have a feature and not use it at all than have the potential to use a feature and be able to use it. if ya get what im saying.

neways, check out the diagram if you want
and heres the project guitar thread, so iif you want step by step instructions or if your not sure about something go here:

hope that helps

haha ok, well i could wire in a toggle switch i guess.

but what i want to know is:

What are the different colored wires on the 89?

theres white which i know is for the input signal, and bare which is for the ground signal. I know theres a red one seperate from the conglomorate that goes to the battery connector.

specifically what are the yellow, red, blue, and green wires?

soooo

after a bunch more research, and i think that to just run the 89 as a straight humbucker, i use the green wire as my hot lead, attach the blue and orange wires together, ground the sheilding and leave the white and yellow as is.

If i was to make a coil tap swith, i'd need a DPDT switch which in one position [connects the blue wire to the orange and the green wire to the signal input], and in the other position [connects the yellow wire to the orange and the white wire to the signal input].

yeah. i gotta get some stuff first but i'll let everyone know how my overly simple yet confuzzling to me wiring job turns out.
