" Thoughts "
Can we pass through this life without bearing some of the same tears
That the fortune and misfortune of the confused angel wrought?
I am no different than she who won hearts and souls with talents
So etched upon their blinded eyes.
But all have borne the utmost aches before they die
And some more than others save less face.
To wait for the Creator's hand to lead them home,
We are but His pitiful children, yet so loved.
The burdens carried and not shared or understood
Unless a knowing heart has the same allegiance.
Tears passed from my eyes as the tenderness found flight
Into the atmosphere of the world, freeing the soul in that last breath.
My burdens seeming small and irrelevant in nature
To the hidden secrets others carry within their own hearts.

Written after reading Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter" because I'd seen that someone else was reading it and I never did. I never even knew what it was about. I really liked it and even cried a bit towards the end. Thanks for reading.
