EMGed 5-String's
Hey guys, in the future I will be looking into a high end bass around $700 to 1400? Anyways, what 5-string God would you say I keep my eyes on? Looking for something loaded with good wood (haha), neck-thru construction (no more bolt-ons, especially a 5-string), 2 EMG pickups (no HZ's), a really good EQ system, bitchin' hardware, and also really elegant yet says "metal to the end mofos" bass. Thanks for the advice!
P.S: Emo tear! F that

I would recommend a Cort, prefferably the Artisan series.

you also might want to consider this one

That's what I have but mine has no red finish - just polished wood.
It has all the things you were asking for - the through neck, the active EQ, 5 strings and 24 frets, but no EMGs. It has Bartolini MK1 's which in my opinion are very good. I don't know how they compare to EMGs, but I'd guess that they are similar.
It cost me around $1200 after tax, but that's Canadian money. I don't know where you're from, but in the US, that would be close to $950.
If you have $1400 US to spend, you might want to look to find something a bit better. The cheapest neck-through five string from Spector is the Rex 5 which is it says is $1300. All other neck thoughs with 5 strings they have are over $2000 ... I'm sure you could also find some good Warwicks within your price range ... check those out too.
Anyways I'm pleased with my Ibanez - sounds great and it's easy to play. The neck hardly changes and the thing stays in tune forever.
I guess I'm stating the obvious here but don't ever buy a bass without being able to try it first.
Also may I ask what you currently own?

I say do away with it. You can always stand in its former location if you need to make use of the perspective it gave you, but will benefit from the ability to situate yourself in different loci with ease.

Why would you want EMG's? Everyone wants EMG's...
