If you had to...
...move to another country, what would it be and why? This may seem like a dumb question, but it serves a purpose for me. And Bobbi, don't say "I would stay in this country because it keeps my family safe".

Canada or Grand Cayman Islands
No worry about having to learn a new language, high standard of living.

Like many others, I'm somewhat fond of Germany. And Canada seems like a nice idea, too. Tough choice. But, since I've yet to learn the German language well enough to move there, I'll say I'd choose to live up there with those silly Canadians.
(as long as it's cold and has metal music, I guess anywhere would be fine. still, an abandoned Wisconsin morgue with a shitload of DM cd's would do just fine. )

:P yourself. Singling me out to pick on me? <another Bugs Bunny kiss for Matty>
I'd like to explore GB, but it doesn't mean I'd want to live there. I've always wondered what Ireland was like and I've seen some neat pictures of castles in England.

It was actually directed to guitar demon since he likes Norway, but you posted before I did and I didn't bother quoting.

I've been thinking about this too...I've settled on three locations. England, Rome, or the Czech Republic. Mostly for the reinassance art.

i was just in rome. you really get burnt out on art and stuff. one trip to the musei vatici and man, youve seen more art than you ever need to. unless youre a real art buff.
ever actually been to europe pandeomonium? its really cool. even the birds you hear when you wake up sound different, different tv... langauges, quirks, hand motions...etc...

yes, intestine baalism are japanese!
icelandic is very difficult to learn. its loosely tied with danish, swedish and norwegian. D+ S+ N however are VERY close. a dane can talk to a swede without a problem. infact, i just did
england would just be like america with worse teeth :P
kidding, but i dont see much appeal to that. what about wales? anyone ever go there?

Finnish is harder than Icelandic to learn, as it's not related to anything whatsoever, except distantly to Hungarian.
The only person I know who's lived in a Scandanavian country came back more lonely and starved for human contact than I had believed possible. I think that works better as an idea than as a practice.
If I left the States (or stayed, for that matter), I'd probably see fit to travel around a bit, or at least not stay in one place for too long. So everywhere, unless I find someplace I like, which is something no photograph, travelogue, or sentimental manifestation of my ancestors (I'd have to be cut in five pieces to live in the lands of my forefathers) can tell me.

Probably out of Holland, Germany or Canada. I lived in Germany once already (albeit for a very very short time), and I'd do it again. That country kicks arse.

Somewhere where I don't need to take shit from foreigners all the time and where the police actually get to do their job and not just chase people who break the fucking speed limit. Maybe some place in the US that reminds me of the swedish nature or Finland.

I would probably go there if Marshall hired me on their engineering staff. If it was for fun, then Brazil or Thailand.

Maybe, but I think that a bunch of little Japanese dudes on stage playing metal would look kinda silly. I'd have to see/hear it to believe it.

Denny's talked about buying a motorhome when he retires and us just travelling all over. If we're comfortable financewise by then he can do it when he's 55. We both want to go to Alaska sometime. He's been to every state but that and Idaho now.

I don't think I'll leave Holland any time soon though, I love the freedom we have here. Though it's getting ruined by over population, (too many) immigrants, new laws and that kinda shit.

South Germany, eh? I'll be there this summer, and I will make sure you are telling the truth.
Anyway, Germany is quite a bit more crowded compared to Norway.

uh, when you're in south Germany you definetly won't notice that. unless you're in the Ruhrgebiet or the more crowded area's, you won't notice Germany is crowded
It really isn't by the way, especially if you compare it to Holland, we've got 16 million people living in a country that takes two hours two cross by car. haha.
If you want to see beautifull scenery, take the highway heading for Munchen and switch highways to the south when your cross Ulm, the road heading down to Austria/Switserland is full of great scenery

Well, I kind of lied, I will be in Hessen, arriving at Frankfurt and ending up at Fulda for a month. This area is more of the center of Germany, I think.

Well, I've been there when Bob and I roadtripped, but his dad hasn't. And when we went to Oregon it was right across the stateline long enough to look for a non-existant shotglas for my collection and we turned around and went back to Washington. Denny hadn't been there either and we didnt' pick a real good town to go to. it was mostly industry on the river.
It was snowing like heck when Bob and I crossed the Idaho panhandle so I told him not to even stop for my shotglass. We weren't in that state long.

Not anytime soon, but it would be nice in the future. The only place I've been to that was as beautiful as that, was Switzerland.

Brazil or Mexico. I'd look like a citizen there, anyway. It all has to do with the climate and herpetofauna. I can't go somewhere like Denmark or the UK.

Well, a healthy portion of us live in the US...why the hell do you want to come here? If you were to move here, I would recommend somewhere out West in general...are you looking for city life or rural life?

The US is a very different place then most of the world that I've seen. The US is a young compared to the history that other countries have so the only charm it has is in all things new. I have also been to Greece and it was very pretty.

I wouldn't even count the US as a "proper" country, the only real "Americans" are those native indians.

They were just here longer is all. I don't know if any other countries have people who claim 'dibs' on the country after others moved into their territory, but it just seems like all I've heard about here is what goes on here. Except all the stuff in the middle east. Just curious.
And I have nothing against American Indians. I was meaning no disrespect to them. I've known a few.

This country was built on genocide and oppression. Isn't that great?

Stop defending this country, Bob'. Not that any other country has a bloodless history, but the US is just as fucking bad. We just don't have as many examples because of the short history.

Oh, can it, cracka. When did Vespucci and Erik the Red come over and plop their genes in North America? Canada and the US weren't divided as of yet, and what about all the power trips the Indians had with each other? Don't give me the sticking up for the states crap because if the white man wasn't here the red man would be drinking their dog blood in the south and the women would be heading the northern tribes just like several hundred years ago.
