Melvins Appreation!
un-fucking-real. Heavy, heavy, heavy. The first track on Lysol is amazing. Discuss.

Oldschool shit....rules.
They do a cover of Sabbaths "Symptoms Of The Universe" that ownes.
The drumming is stepped up and it's a great cover of a kickass classic.

I don't know, I really like some stoner/doom, but I just can't get into the Melvins. I like Cathedral, Candlemass, High on Fire, Sleep, all kinds of stoner and doom metal, and I just can't seem to find the appeal in the Melvins. They're talented and all, just not my deal.

First time i've heard them mentioned at this site, I like them, they remind me of Metallica.

What is a band that difinitively represents the 'stoner' genre? I have never heard any and want to.

Apart from Kyuss and The Melvins, I'd highly recommend Clutch. They're much more than a "stoner rock" band, but that's the label you'll see hung off them the most.
They played my shitty, no-horse town a couple of weeks ago and showed all us local would-be's how it's done.
Check out anything from their first album "Transnational Speedway League", or the later albums like "Pure Rock Fury" or "Blast Tyrant". There might be some free downloads at their official site here.

Trouble was kind of a stoner type band. Very Sabbath sounding, but the vocalist is not always appreciated by my ears.
You should at the very least listen to the song "The Tempter" by Trouble. Outstanding classic '80's metal song right there.

Didn't want to start a new thread.
If you like the band Big Business get the new Melvins album "Senile Animal" the guy from BB does some vocals on a couple tracks. It's really good.

Gotta love the Melvins, when everyone started playing fast they started playing slower!
I really like the Bullhead album, haven't they just done a tour playing the whole of the Lysol album from start to finish? And I have to say Buzzo has the maddest hair in rock!
