Line 6 Flextone II Head
Any opinions on this amp head? I know Internal Suffering, Sleep Terror, and Disgorge use this head so it must be pretty brutal. thinking of getting it since I can find it used for under $500

I like line 6 stuff. And The flextone series are allright IMO. I never actually heard the the flextone II But I played the Flextone III and that one sounded very good to me. And I don't think there is much difference between the 2

alright here I go..
I think it's worthless due to it's digital tone, very muddy, bassy tone, think emg85 x 10 on a 1 meter thick magogny body which results in not being clear at all. I tried jamming along with a couple of friends with it and I couldn't hear myself at all, it just sounded terrible.. but who knows, you might like it.. try it out
edit: I think both of us are thinking and talking about the recto modelling right?

i'm not a huge flextone kinda guy... if i went line 6 it'd probably be an hd147,vetta II, or a pod pro XT + tube poweramp.
but the flextones are lightyears better than the spiders.

they have a bass parameter... you can turn it down
and the recto model isnt the only thing it has to offer.

really?
of course I tried it.. but it didn't take out the muddyness..
btw, I'm talking about a 2x12 flextone combo I played, not the head, and I didn't know there were lots of different versions of the flextone, however I don't have a clue about which flextone it was I played but I don't think the differences from the other flextones might be that huge..

there are the flextones, I(i think) II's and III's....
basically it's updated...
what i ment by there are other models than the recto one... each head has a dozen or so amp models it can emulate.. the recto being one. being the most extreme(next to the INSANE anyways).

If you're trying to get a real good tone in particular, I'd say that it's a no becuz it's just some simple amp simulations. But if you're just looking for an amp to play through, I think it's pretty good cuz you can play around with all the diff. models and the effects. The whole thing seems pretty well built (construction wise).

i think modeling amps are kinda dumb for serious use... i want an amp that sounds like itself. if i want a recto sound i'll buy a fucking recto... not a line 6 with a recto model.

Yeah exactly, but I found it fun to use when I was a Guitar Center, trying diff. guitars through the thing w/ various effects and models. Other than that, it doesn't really serve a SERIOUS use.
