The God bashing just makes it immature and takes away alot of the erie feeling of the lyrics. Reads much better this way.

To be fair, this is St Peter-hating, as he was the one nailed to an upside down-cross. And, as old and boring as God-hating is, Peter-hating is new and fresh. I mean, what did the guy really do? Deny Christ three times? Found the Roman church? Write a letter or two? There's a lot that can be filled in here, that we can do with this.
Incidentally, no crucifixion I know of included the nails through the eyes bit. Blasphemy only works if you know what the hell you're talking about. Leave the god-hating to the erudite and insightful misotheists and the lyric-writing to the ... good lyricists.
