Extra-Jumbo Frets - Sound problems?
Ok, my RG550 get's a real clunky and "dead" sound when I play above the 12th fret, is this a problem with all extra jumbo fret equipped guitars? 'Cause my strat (standard frets) hasn't got any of the aforementioned problems.

No problems like that on my ESP. Have it checked by a PRO.

That could be a neck relief problem if the action seems ok. You know how to check the neck relief?

Check the action first by measuring the distances between the top of the 12th fret to the bottom side of the string. Make sure all the strings are around the same distance. The distance will get smaller on the lighter strings, or at least it should. What kind of bridge do you have?
Use a ruler to measure the distance. I set my guitars action up at 3/32 on the low E and tapper down to 1/16 on the high E.
Edit: 3/32 and 1/16 inches that is.

On your Ran!!!???
My Kramer Vanguard has the exact same action heights with hardly any fret buzzing (no fret buzz through an amp).

Yup, on my Ran, explorer, and my 7 string. I use a relief of right about 1/64" on the 7th fret while holding the 17th and 1st fret.

Thats about it. Just check the action it at the 12th fret. If it feels good and there are no buzzes through the amp then it is good. Everyone has different taste and picking styles. That is why guitars feel good to some and not so good to others. If you know haw to adjust action and relief then you can make just about any guitar feel good to you once you know what you like.
