Hey guys, I'm still having problems with my damn Ibanez RGT 42...I haven't been able to wire the EMG 81 and 60 yet, in the One volume config (81 in the bridge, 60 in the neck). I got a new (two actually) pickup selector switch....and it still hasn't worked yet...can someone help me please!!! Pics are enclosed of the switch's....

Use the Fender style switch you bought (one on the right)

The Ibanez input has 3 prongs correct?

Do you know how to wire in the tone pot?

Without seeing it, I really cant tell you why its not working.. if you can get pics of your wiring job that would be great.

The tone pot isn't even wired up in the schematic though, and I just want to use one volume

and the input has three prongs, does each wire for the input have to go to a specific prong on the input also?

If you don't have a stereo input jack ( I can't tell or not ) then that is you problem. It looks to me as though you have a mono input. Make sure that it is a stereo input. That and I see that one of the leads of your pickups isn't wired, but that could be a trick of the camera light.

The input came with three prongs(at first only two were wired), and I read that is all you need to wire it for stereo mode, and that is how I wired it.

All the leads are wired to the volume pot as well, just a camera trick I guess.

Have you tried to bypass the input to complete the path for the battery lead? That is really all the stereo input is for. Your pick ups might not be getting power.

just cut the hassel and replace in input jack with the emgs one

No need to the Ibanez jack works perfectly with emg's, plus the emg jack won't fit his guitar .

The imput jack isen't the problem.. it has the extra prong which is attached to the battery.

Then perhaps you have the pots wired backwards. I can't really see in the pics that well, but have you tried reversing the wiring on the pots to see if that works? Also you have 25K pots right? Also try using this.

yah, I'm using the 25k pots that came with, and that schematic came with em too, but it doesn't have my config on it (one volume, 2 pickups).....I'm still lost on what to do now.

Have you bridged pins 1,2, 5 and 6 of the pickup selector? I didn't notice that part of the diagram at first, but it could be where you're going wrong

The YM-30 is a 3-way from All Parts. I took this pic a while back and doctored it up to put it on my website's tutorial pages (not working yet).

Anyway, check this. I put an EMG-25 set in my Ibanez, which had a 5-way coil-split design. I had to go to a 3-way also. If you follow this diagram, assuming your wiring is not faulty elsewhere, it will work.
