Hey I need a good mic for recording BM vocals. The one I have now distorts if I get too loud, and it sounds kind of shitty (there is no punch to the screams, they just sound like complete shit. It sounds like there isn't much bass or mid sounds)


any help will be appreciated

What have you got now? And what are you recording onto; have you got a mixer/recorder thing or are you tracking onto your computer using the mic input?

SM58 is a good all-round mic really, it's cheap and cheerful and gets the job done. I prefer a 57 myself but they're more expensive. If you're recording onto your computer using the mic input, it wouldn't do any harm to get yourself a seperate mic preamp, run the mic through that and then plug into the line input of your computer, it'll clean the sound up alot

I'm using a shitty $10 SONY mic (so obviously it's not going to sound too good) and I'm recording directly into my computer.

I'll try to get my hands on a better mic and a mic pre-amp.

well seemin that its black metal, that shitty $10 sony mic should be fine lol
