Im the in the middle too, when I write I usually just go for feel and have an idea for a song and go for that.
i really only go for the theory stuff, when Im writing leads/solos have a cool idea for a theory based thing or am stuck

^^ Same here. I only go by ear, which works much of the time, but obviously limits me.

I have little clue of what I'm doing when jamming other than matching the tune I wanna jam to.
I dont even know what I'm tuned to....C..D...who knows?
I just know I can eventually find a majority of what I'm attempting.

this is a real pain in the backside.
I used to play with 100% feel, know no theory, making it up as i went along, and never knowing what i was going to play next. but I found I couldnt "feel" quick enough to do faster licks, so at the moment, I write solos by improvising them really really slow, and then play them a lot faster memorised.
so my stuff begins very feel, and then because im playing it so slow and preparing it, i keep changing little bits. and basically, because everything i do is planned, the answer is niether. ive lost my niche for improvisation.
the same way that you become crap at chess if you only ever play a computer and always use the "undo" button. when it comes to real life you cant tell your opponent "hold on, lets go back 5 moves to where I did that, and ill do this instead"
but I'll have it sorted in a few months

This is probably the wrong forum......
But I picked technical. Feel is natural, so I focus on complex rhythms for my riffs.

Even though I don't play gutiar for a really long time (something like half an year only) I still choose Feel. When I'm doing something new, I care of doing it as I imagined it... though I am perfectly aware of the fact that being tech is important. I've still got much to learn.

100% feel. I know absolutely no theory, exept for a scale I don't know the name of or something. Usually when I play guitar, I improvise alot, then take the good riffs I get from those, and use them for songs or for more jamming.

Im more of a feel person. i like to just wing it. besides it makes it more of your song. but i do know what im doing when i play. i just need better gear, cuz my gear now sucks ass. good question though.

i put that i'm a "feel" kinda guy... even though i actually have a couple years worth of music theory classes under my belt, as well as several years of private drum and guitar lessons.
some things you have to figure out for yourself. half the shit i write i'd never be able to come up with by thinking theory.
nothing beats experience.

whpo ever said it was important?? some of the greatest writers have absolutly no clue of what there doing (Dave Mustaine, Jeff Hanneman(?), etc) but then again, yes thepry is cool to have lots of other great writers are teachers now or wewre at one point( Satch, Steve vai, Paul Gilbert)
