It's Like Starting All Over Again!
Well, some of you guys may remember me here. I used to post in the guitar section all the time. Well I have been away from guitar and want to pick it up again but way more this time. Anyways, I have forgotten EVERYTHING. I can't remember ANY theory and barely can remember any chords. I can play old rock music like Led Zep, boring Metallica, etc and make up my own shit like old music I will jam with older guys, they do the rythem and I can pick anything out and throw in solos, etc. But when it comes to metal I can't think of shit or play and come up with shit. I need to learn more rythem guitar and learn all my theory again.
Any help here guys on what I should start out doing? I don't wan't to be one of those players that just listen to a CD and copy songs and learn to play songs, I wan't to know my actual shit like theory, chords and KNOW what I am playing if you get what I mean.
I have heard some guys play and they are awsome as shit but they can play only a few riffs here and there and don't know whole songs or can only do things like quick riffs and solos but aren't good ALL AROUND players I guess you can call them.
Hard to explain but any info on where to start again and what sites to use to get all this info at like learning all my chords again or starting from begginning. I don't wan't to take guitar lessons, I did that when I was around 6 years old for a while and played until I was 13 or 14 and am now almost 18 and have been playing still but on and off and not great anymore.
Thanks a lot for any help!

Also to add onto this...
I need help on different tunings. I can tune to drop d with a normal tuner ( press E on 7th fret and tune till the tuner says A right?)
How can I play in dropped C with a regular tuner?
At the same time I am going back to the beginning with theory and such I wan't to still have fun and practice stuff I should be worrying about later because I can't sit here and do theory all day and have fun.
Thanks again.

if you have a tuner, then just tune the strings to the right notes...
pick the open E and tune it down till its a C
then the same for all the other strings
learning theory, check out the new theory forum ( i dont think it was there when you posted before) have any questions just ask em in there
work on basic excersis to get used to playing again and the feel of the guitar, plus there good for stretching and cordination aswell
good luck man

Guitar Demon, how's it going man. I appreciate the help. I never saw the theory section. When I get home tomarrow I will check that part out and see what I can find. It's hard to be playing guitar, playing drums (mostly), building hot rods and going to school all at the same time. No time and very limited amount of money. I am barrowing a damn guitar amp since mine is a old amp like almost 30 years old or probably more and it's basically blown out. I am going to look into getting a 5150 amp maybe since some people on here said they are great. For now on everything I buy is going to be good top of the line shit not none of this cheap it will break in a year and you have to spend more money stuff. I don't have no 10 grand to spend on a amp and effects, I plan to spend about 2 grand I guess the MOST. Won't be any time soon that I get an amp though so not getting my hopes up right now.
Oh also, on my tuner I have just a regular EADGBe tuner and that's all it tunes to so no clue on how to tune to c.

WTF!?!?
Welcome back!!! (I don't know if you remember me, but I remember you, that's for sure) I thought this was just another time when some stupid noob had resurrected an ooooooold thread that was started by you, but after checking the post date a few times, I guess I'll have to try and believe one of the good old guys has actually returned.
Oh, and drop C? Fret 4th on your low E, and tune that to E, then fret all other strings on the 2nd fret and tune them to their respective notes (so the 2nd fret on the A string will make the tuner say it's an A).

Useless thread. I'm sure there are many threads about tunings here, and there IS a theory forum.
