Akercocke
There have been Akercocke threads, but I feel another is due. It may be late news, but ex-Berzerker "shred master" Matt Wilcock has replaced Paul Scanlan as lead in the band. There is nobody in this band without superior talent on their instrument - Mendonca being without a doubt my favourite brutal vocalist of all time (he's not bad on the guitar either) - and their new album will certainly be a treat.
Discuss their greatness.

I've never heard of Matt Wilcock,I hope this doesn't effect there music any.Chronozon is one of my favorite albums ever,it'll be hard for them to top it.

I have The Goat of Mendes and I cannot stand the production on it, so much so that I never listen to it
I watched their video on the Earache site, though, and it's awesome. Is that from Chorozon? Cause if so, I'm buying that album as soon as I can afford it

i just listened to chronozon for the first time last week. several times i honestly, no joking, thought my ipod had skipped to a different band. really weird stuff. a big "wtf?" to that one

Matt was in an uber-brutal detal metal band (think old nile) called Abremlin and a classy thrash band called Steel Affliction.

I've only got 4 songs by Akercocke, which is sad since I've liked them for about 2 and a half years! But they all kick ass!
A friend lent me a copy of one of their albums though, I can't remember which one... it had 'praise the name of satan' on it, I remember that much (loved that song).
Akercocke rules!

I never found the recording on Goat of Mendes that bad, and I still like it more than Chronozon, but that's a mighty fine album too.

Yeah the recording is fine to me,but I also listen to Darkthrone,Burzum,etc.
Goat of Mendes is fucking grand quality compared to some of Darkthrone's shit. |
