Floyd Adjustment

Hey guys, I'm new to the boards, looks good.

I recently have decided to tune my floyd to "D" tuning, so I went and bought a pack of Dean Markley JZ (12-54) gauge strings, put them on, and I started to tune right after I played around with the springs on the back. They do seem a bit tight, when I tried tuning them (especially the third string) so I am a tad concerned if they will break when I try to use my trem upwards... but that's not the biggest problem I'm having.

The tremelo system started to pull upwards from the body, so I tried adjusting the springs to the max, but it wasnt enough, I later found this guide:
http://www.eastonguitars.com/WWW/TPS/floyd_setup.htm

It helped, but as I read on, I figured out that I will need more springs to adjust the tremelo in the right position because it just simply doesnt work with the 3 springs I have now, so I figured I'd buy 2 more, but I was wondering where I would get them since I'm thinking they could be a guitar accessory or something like that, or I might just be an idiot and find myself to buy one at the local hardware store... Any advice?

Also, I was wondering about strings, which set would be fairly good for D, and not tight as hell as these, because I dont wanna be changing strings in 2 days after they all start to pop because of my floyd use.

Thanks!
Dezo.

you can buy springs in your local guitar shop. At least here you van buy them in the guitar shop. And .012 -.052 are a bit thick strings for standard D .012 strings are used for C tuning IMO. I think .011 are good for D tuning. Not floppy and not uber tight.

10-52 gauge could be good, I have those on a couple of guitars tuned to drop-D and they're fine. I'm not sure what they'd be like on a Floyd though, and I do remember 11s being a bit tight on my Kramer

no matter what you do you shouldnt have to go out and buy springs. the guitar should be able to handle D tuning without any problems. The correct guage strings with the right tuning should have close to the same pressure on the neck.
