sweet fuck! will i be able to play guitar?
ok, so i have an acoustic guitar and a bass guitar. i've played bass for the past 3 months or so and have gotten a pretty decent hang of it. but then i go and look at guitar tabs on this site, and i'm like "holy fuck, that looks hard". and sure enough, i try playing them, and its fucking hard.
now, there are no instructors in my area. do you think i'll be able to learn guitar on my own like i did with bass or am i fucked and should quit?

keep at bass bro. for two reasons:
1. the world needs more bass players
2. i am a guitarist, and so i don't venture into bass zone much at all. thus, i don't have to tolerate stupid threads like this.

everything is hard when you firt start at it. if you really wanna go with guitar just keep at it and practice alot and youll be able to get anythign you want if you willing to put the time into it. but like andy said if you already play bass and enjoy that then stick with that and become a kick ass bass player

If you're serious about learning guitar, just keep at it and you will get it eventually. Some of the tabs on here might look intimidating at first for a beginner but you'll get the hang of it if you keep trying. Good luck to you.
But like andrewc and guitar_demon said, if you enjoy bass then keep working at that until you reign supreme in the world of bass players. Okay, that might take quite a while, but IT'S A GOAL, right?

whenever I play bass guitars I think they are a shitload easier than guitar. I would start off with easy stuff if I was you vartex. Amon Amarth - Death in Fire
and Amon Amarth - For the Stabwounds in Our Backs are pretty basic songs. They might be fast (stabwounds), but just practice over and over and you'll eventually get it. Mastodon - March of the Fire Ants is another easy song. Most all power chords. Only hard part is going from the 4-5th strings down to 1st or 2nd. That is a good challenge and practice. Last one I can think of is probably At the Gates - Blinded by Fear. 2nd and 3rd riff can be hard (i suggest getting a powertab version of the song). Once you get the timing it is easy. Solo is quite easy also. Other than that just fuck around on guitar. Find riffs you like from bands and try to play them. If they are to complex save them for later. Learn pinch harmonics and palm muting (if you don't know already) they are used a lot in the world of metal. Last thing, don't get stressed out when playing. If you have been practicing a riff all day and still can't get it, take a break and come back. Some how the mind works oddly and usually you can play it 50% better than before.

I am playing bass for 12 years, and just last month bought an acoustic and now buying an electric. It was hard when I started but now I am getting used to it and my hads are getiing fluent. so as said before that everythng seems hard in the begining. Play what you enjoy the most, if you like guitar better try www.wholenote.com there are tons of lessons there, thats where I get my lessons from. Hope it helped
