What Cannibal Corpse CD should I get?

There are so many of thier CD's, and I heard that they all sound the same, as well every song. I dont know which one to get, any help?

Well, there are two eras. The Chris Barnes Era and the George Fisher Era. George Fisher era being the most recent.
Some people like the Barnes era more, and some people like the Fisher era more.
I started out with Tomb Of The Mutilated. The Bleeding is another good one to start out with. Gallery Of Suicide or Vile are good Fisher era albums to start out with.
Basically, if you pick any of their CD's, I think you will be happy with it.

i prefer the george era myself, I like the songs from the barnes era, but his vocals suck ass imo.
ifyou havnt heard anything by them I would suggest getting their live album "live cannibalism" its very good quility and has all their best songs up to that point.

I started off with Gore Obsessed, some say its not their best.

But for you, I would recommend starting off with Bloodthirst, that has quite a few great gems on it. Also The Wretched Spawn is grrrreeeaaaatttt.

IMO, The Wretched Spawn is the best George-era CC CD; The Bleeding is the best Barnes-era album

How about this, take the opinions from the guys that actually tab the songs...that sounds like a good idea.

Tabbers know specific songs better if they have any advantage at all. When you're asking which record's best, everybody's opinion's equally useless without the person asking advice qualifying what exactly he wants. Tabbing a few songs doesn't make your opinion as to which CD's the best any more valid.

My favorite's Gallery of Suicide, but obrien was so right it hurts when he suggested Live Cannibalism. You'll get an idea of their entire career up to Bloodthirst. A lot of people seem to like their latest, too, but I really stopped paying attention after Gallery.

Vile or Tomb of the Mutilated

Of course, unlike most bands, Cannibal Corpse does not have a bad album yet, so any answer will do in this case...

i own butchered at birth, vile, bloodthirst, gore obsessed, and the wretched spawn, and of those five, i would have to say the TWS is my favorite, but for a first album by the band, it depends on which vocalist, for barnes, i would say either the bleeding or butchered at birth. for fisher, either the wretched spawn or vile.

Damn it, Dick, you need to get the latest album.

Back on the original topic, I'm with Rich all the way- Gallery was my first CC album and remains my favorite to this date. Out of the Barnes era stuff I like Butchered at Birth best. The songs aren't very complex back then, but I love the sound and feel of that album. They're also tons of fun to play along with.

I agree, all the stuff with fisher is good. Chris Barnes ruins the earlier stuff.

Its hard for me to say now, that i have all CC albums, but the first that a Bought was Live Cannibalism, Like PTS 88 said, You'll get an idea of their entire career up to Bloodthirst, then you'll just have to get TWS, that IMO is the second Better CC, (Bloodthirst is the first), then get Gore Obsessed.

I've actually heard it, Chris. I've really heard all of CC's stuff past Gallery. I just don't care much about it.

I just started up the lineup of Cannibal Corpse songs in my mp3 player, but, since it's listed alphabetically by band name, I accidentally hit the song right above the first by Cannibal Corpse, 'Cucurrucucu Paloma' by Caetano Veloso. Anyone familiar with the song should know why the transition from that to Pulverized is kinda jarring. And awesome.

I wouldnt say he ruins it, but he certainly drags it down. The Bleeding + George Fisher would be my dream album.

i love both 'eras' of CC and love all the albums, bar The Wretched Spawn, as an album its good but for a CC album its not good, got some great riffing but the drums just aren't up to what they usually are.

My top 3 are Bloodthirst, Tomb of the Mutilated and Vile
