Well, that is about as cheap and as good you are going to get for under $100. A good amp with decent distortion will make you much happier though.

That depends on which effect you mean.

or at least it can be... if somethign is better, it's totally subjective.

comparing a 5150 to a dual recto... the 5150 is cheaper, and some would say it's better. others wouldnt.

same with comparing a dod grunge pedal to a boss metalzone. some like the grunge more, some l ike the metalzone... but the grunge is half the price.

but of course the boss owns it in flexibility and built quality.

anyways, buy a good amp.

That depends on how serious he intends to be. Down here on the south side of the exuator, you are looking at $1200 for just a head.

If you want a simple pedal to plug into a 40w peice of shit amp, and never intend to upgrade (or don't anytime in the near future) then a MT-2 is a nice pedal for the price, just don't expect to get an amazing, professional sound out of it.

Just answered this but check it out....
this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v410/biafra/ds1.jpg made my small amp kick some much needed ass.
If I could start over knowing what I have learned here would be to save more and get a tube amp.
