i wanna get the most brutalist distortion like CoB, how do i get that distortions which is like alex! do i connect 3 pedals together to make it sound heavier? i am using a squire strat and a 10waattt practice amp.
does anyone know where i can get the best distortions pedals that bands uses live on stage. like the ones metallica and cob and slayer and dimebag use?

Anyway, yeah man, for a kick-ass CoB tone, I get 3 Boss Metal Zone pedals, and link them together. It doesn't matter what amp you're using, because it sounds great with all. It'll work wonders on your 10 watt practice amp.

A lot of the more experienced users on this forum use this setup, it's well worth it. Am I right guys?...

yea definanatly, I only had one Metal Zone and it didn't sound quite right, I bought two more and wow the tone improvement is magnifisent! Also try to keep the mids as low as posible. And bass at ten.

Be quiet, you're just a silly newb. To the guy who originally posted the thread, the best set-up for you is to buy 3 Metal Zone pedals. Once you do, let us know how you get on, they're really kick-ass.

Very fine thanks for asking, the people at our shows are always like wow that tone is amazing Then I'm like telling them that it's easy, just get whatever guitar cause the guitar doesn´t really change the sound, for me it's one of those squire black ones. And some sort of an amp that has to have lots of gain and easy to turn down the mids button. My 10w squire amp does that pretty well, and with the volumee at ten it´s so loud I could play very big gigs if I have all my metal zones with me, without them it just ain't as loud and doesn't sound as good. I also like to add one DOD death metal whenever I play some death metal, it's simple really.

Basically, the best set-up is to use:

3 Metal Zones hooked up for when you want to play most metal

1 Digitech Metal Master/DOD Death metal distortion for when you want to play extra-heavy stuff, and strip the walls of their paint!

Don't forget to add an EQ pedal in the chain somewhere to take even more mids out! I find it works best after the first or second Metal Zone; if it goes after the third one, the sound is so heavy that they're feeling it all the way down the street

You ever seen a moshpit outside? It's quite a sight, bodies everywhere. Try it! Stick the EQ after all your distortion pedals and watch them bodies move!

i take it that most of that was sarcasm, well im going to a music store in sydney tomoro so i will see if 3 mt2 pedals sound good together. i think theyre are the heavyest guitar pedal released because slipknot use them and so does linking park. wish me luck
how much does a mt2 pedal cost? and is the emg pedal better? i think its the emg 81 pedal. has anyone got one?

Do you use those three boss distortion pedals with distortion of your amp or clean section of your amp. With one pedal I can't even use the distortion of my amp cuz it becomes way too muddy and hiss.

I use the three distortion pedals on the clean channel of my amp. Yes, the pedals produce enough mega-distortion of their own, so you have to use the clean channel.

Edit: Sorry, I forgot to mention that when you use the three boss distortion pedals in a chain, each pedal cuts out the noise and hiss from the one next to it, leaving you with awesome distortion, but without the noise and hiss found when using only one pedal! I love my setup.

And make sure you remove all the mids and highs for that ultra-tr00-necro distortion. Only pansies need high channels.

i looked on a cob fourm and it said alexi uses crate amp with boss mega distortion me i use digitech's metal master its jsut great for me onyl pad thing is if you paml mute and hit a note right after or during u cant hear the paml mute only when its by itself
