One piece of advice that everyone on this forum will gladly give you:

Good distortion doesn't come out of a pedal.

Now figure it out for yourself, and save up for a decent tube amp.

the grunge and deathmetal pedals are dod/digitech... not boss. i think you mean the boss metalzone..

imo they're all not so great.

buy a good amp...

i see.. well, the only reason i wanted a pedal was because i cant really afford a cabinet and head, and i want to be able to get decent harmonics and stuff out of my 10 watt practice amp (which ive been using for like, 2 years). it might sound pathetic.. but i have no cash whatsoever . but i guess thats what i should do then... i wish i had something to sell lol.

you don't need a halfstack to sound good man...
my buddy has a epiphone standard plus les paul with a duncan jb in the bridge and some ghb boomers. running through a little marshall g10c(or something).... all its got is gain, level, contour, and a clean/crunch switch. it pumps 10w into a tiny little 6-8" speaker.

and with the right bro on it(just about any person that can actually play the guitar decently)... it sounds good. i just dime the gain, turn it to crunch mode, set the contour about halfway up. and then just adjust the levels.

alot has to do with the guitarist's ability to play... alot has to do with having a good guitar... but the amp itself is nothing to cream over by any means.

what exact peices of gear do you have, guitar, amp, pedals, ect.. models n' such?

with $100 and the gear you have i'm sure you could get something to make it work... maybe a pedal, maybe it's just a matter of upgrades on your guitar.

well im typing this from school so i cant give you my exact setup, but i use a marshall 10 watt amp. i have a really crumby yamaha (about $120) but my new Schecter C1 Blackjack is coming in. that has the seymour duncan jb/59 pickup combo.

hope that helps.

10 watt marshall...Instead of the money you spended on the shecter you could have bought a decent amp and hooked the yamaha up with some emg's or an other good pickup. 'cause a good guitar through a shitty amp still doesn't sound right.

Well, instead of saving up for another crummy pedal, try to gather some $$$ for another combo. 10 Watts could suffice for bedroom practice, but i'd want to settle for at least 20-30 watts, or60 watts later if you have the chance. I don't necceseraly need to have tubes, but at least make sure the combo has an 12 inch speaker instead of 10 inch. No way you're gonna get nice bassy sounds out of an 10 inch speaker, crummy pedal or not.

Also, i'm not sure if you have any distortion pedals already, but instead of getting another one, i would strongly recomend getting some EQ pedal. Boss GE-7 is a nice, but not cheap, option.

Altough this may not be the best sounding rig, it'll set you up for home practice and the occasional jam without drummer.
