Good guitar for under $250...

I'll be getting my first electric soon, and for a while I've been decided on what to get but I've been having second thoughts. What good axes can I get for under 250 bucks?

I've always had the ESP EX-50 on my mind, for $220, but I'd like to know if there are better quality instruments at around that price. A BC Rich Thunderbird is not in my price range right now. :P

Thanks for any help.

Maybe go for like a $280 guitar and try and get the price down to $250?

You aren't gonna get anything good for that much. Save up a little frst.

Try ebay. That's the only way you'll get a decent guitar for that price.

You can definetly get a decent guitar for $250.. just not from guitar center. Check small buy/sell stores. Some good deals there. .. Or ebay.

Just save your money dude. Getting something in that price range will just make you want to put it down and never pick it back up. I advise you to save up to aroun the 400-500 range before you make a choice.

But thats just me talking.

I agree, a more expensive guitar will sound better, making you want to play it more, and it will also last longer, so you won't need to buy a new one after a year because you've realised that the pickups are shit or the neck is crap or whatever

Personally, I'd never go for any of the bottom-of-the-line ESP LTDs. Actually, I'd be hard pushed to get anything other than the top line ones, but that's because I'm an elitist fuck

Good luck finding an entry level guitar that will make you want to quit playing.

I'm also looking at some cheap ESP LTDs . www.jrrshop.com has good prices and two of my friends bought from there.

Has anyone played the 50 or 100 series? I know i can't expect the guitar to sound good because of the shitty pickups but i'm more interested in the quality of the guitar (finnish, neck, frets).
A good ideea is to buy a guitar with a fixed bridge. The cheap floyd rose copies are made of cheese

Right now I'm playing an Ibanez Iceman I got for 250... I have had no problems out of it, even though it is not a popular model. Hell, get an ICX-120 and maybe one day you'll grow up to be just like me...

Just look around at local pawn shops and such. If you don't mind some minor appearance blemishes you might find a gem. I got a Jackson Kelly for $200 and the thing is awesome for the price. The only thing wrong is a some wear in the finish and a crack in the headstock which was repaired really well.
