Wesley Willis
id post this in bands, but it would prolly get closed, as well as this is also more about him than the music. if one of the mods thinks this should be in bands, then move it.
if you've never heard of this guy, he was a giant(6'6", 300-350 lbs.) dude from chicago who was mentally challenged, schizophrenik, and went thru alot of shit as a kid. he died in '03, and a buddy of mine had a few of his songs, and they are fucking hilarious.

6'6" 300-350 is giant to you???
I mean jesus christ have you ever heard of the NBA, or the NFL. come on Shaq, Yao Ming those fucks are like 8 feet tall, well like 7 and a half. shaq is 7'8" tall and Yao is like 7'8" maybe 7'9". and in the NFL SMALL lineman is 6'+ and at very least 320. so this guy by no means is a GIANT

This does belong in bands. I've been planning on starting a Wesley thread in bands for a while now, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I'll go put one up now and somebody can merge them.

Wesley fucking Willis
Wes was my hero, and by god, the fucking daddy of all rock 'n roll. Most find him mildly amusing, some find him annoying. I found him to be one of the most interesting human beings on the face of the planet. His music is far more enjoyable when taken into it's true context- the more you know about Wes and understand his personality and background, the more fun his songs become.
If anybody wants to hear Wes, about 50 of his songs are extremely easy to find on shitty p2p clients, so just search him out. I have certain songs I'd personally recommend, but unless somebody actually cares, I'll just keep them to myself.
I often find myself using Wesleyisms in everyday talk, and on the rare occasion somebody recognizes where the oddness came from, it's always good for a hearty laugh. I'm not as sad that Wesley died as are most people equally intersted in him. It was pretty obvious he wasn't going to live very long, and he left behind a rich legacy that is easy to appreciate.
Rock over London, rock on Chicago. Zale's- it's the diamond store!

I whooped spidermans ass...
This guy is fuckin hilarious. You can find alot of his shit on alternative tentacles. He made this music because he had leukemia and he wanted to raise money to find a cure or fix it or something of the sort.

No, that's not even close. You are right that he had leukemia, but I'm not sure how much of it, if any, went to finding a cure. He really didn't make a whole lot of money off of his music, maybe just enough to live off of, but not enough to give to charity. Wes started his music thing way before he had leukemia. He suffered from chronic schizophrenia and would hear voices in his head that would berate him all day long- he referred to them as his 'schizophrenia demons'. Making music was therapeutic to him and helped shut up his demons. He used to love taking bus rides, too, but his demons started bothering him more on buses than anywhere else, and they would turn what should have been a Harmony Joy Bus Ride into a Torture Demon Hellride. He was also an excellent artist, and apparently his drawings could sell pretty high, even when he was homeless if I'm not mistaken. But his demons started to tell him his art sucked and tried to discourage him from drawing. Finally, he found his music. This was the one place the demons never got to him. That certainly explains why he made so many fucking albums.
I know for a fact he recorded at least 68 albums, and this does not count singles, EP's, live albums, his work with the Fiasco band, or any of the greatest hits albums.

I'm not sure... around 15-20, but that's counting greatest hits albums and his work with the Fiasco band.
EDIT: 17, but I might be missing a couple.

No, I can't. It's just another one of his little quirks. I have no idea where he got it from.

Also, he got the ''rock over london, rock on chicago' from radio stations. It was their slogans.

Thank you very much for that. I probably should have asked somebody where he got that from, I've always wondered myself.

OK, so he's mad addled bum who makes hilarious songs about stupid shit. Now to me, that puts him in the same category as Anal Cunt (I thought that'd get ya). So what's so gosh-darned good about him, CR?

Nothing quantifiable, I guess. It's mostly little intangible things, and a personal preference. I'll completely ignore the AC comparison.

Does anyone have some WW song recommendations?

This thread made me watch the DVD again... And who did I see? No other than Tim Morse, the Anal Cunt drummer, tagging along with the team filming Wesley.
