YES
I'm still learning songs from The Wretched Spawn ... Can you imagine what this album's "Frantic Disembowelment" would be like?

That almost gave me a stiffy. I'm actually kind of suprised that they didn't stick with Neil Kernon after getting such great results with Wretched. It should be interesting to see how it will come out though with Erik Rutan at the boards, and Pat and Alex writing all the material. Can't fucking wait.

ERIK RUTAN???
thats weird news, i thought that if they didn't want Neil again, they probably would get Colin, i dunno, if Erik do the same work he did on King Of All Kings on Producing, it'll don't worth the change.
so, they'll be entering the studio only in October...long wait.
damn, Alex is never satisfied with producers...

I like the production on King of all Kings. Its just the music that is a bit of a let down. The album should, at the verry least, be interesting.

Goddamn, I hate the production on King Of All Kings. Only the drums sounded decent, and drums are the last thing I listen out for when it comes to CC.
Cool news anyway. I just hope they don't rush too much.

Erik's production has come on leaps and bounds since KOAK. Have you heard Chorozonic Force Domination? Crystal clear, although I think the slightly fuzzy guitar sound suits Hate Eternal's sound down to the ground, I kinda wish they'd kept it for I, Monarch
Having said that, I am slightly apprehensive about the quality of the production in comparison to The Wretched Spawn. I watched the DVD again today for the first time in ages, and the guitars sound so damn crunchy. It looked like they were in a fucking nice studio, too
TWS is easily the best album they've done with Corpsegrinder, I just hope the music continues in a similarly technical vein, as well as being as brilliantly hooky

The production on Wretched Spawn is Godly. Some of the best sounding guitars I've ever heard, and the drums sound pretty good too even though Paul is a mediocre death metal drummer.
King of All Kings however is pretty terrible, musically and productionwise. I can't wait for I, Monarch, it sounds much better. Rutan sounds like he's learned alot.

Looks like it's too late for that, I already said it. The guy is just a boring by-the-numbers death metal drummer in a band that is seriously talented and is always pushing the envelope writing some difficult shit. It'd be nice if Paul could come up with something to match the level of intensity the other guys put out.
But really, let's not derail the thread into some stupid argument over the god damn drummer. Forget I expressed an opinion on him.

He really isn't that great. Take Frantic Disembowelment for instance; in the vocal breaks during the verses, some blast beats would sound incredible during those sections, but all he seems to do throughout the entire song is alternate between his kick drum and snare whilst hitting different cymbals. And people say Derek Roddy's drumming on KOAK is boring...

Derek is the best drummer man... Also, Sloth. They are really good. Paul is a great drummer, but I do agree with the blastbeats thing. It would have been nice in some of the songs, especially in he opener to Cyanide Assasin. Im really excited to hear the production on this album with Rutan! It will be great I think. I saw nothing wrong with KOAK, and that was a great album IMO!
Paul does some good drumming to go with the riffs on They Deserver to Die too, I think.

Dude, seriously, take Derek, that you mention, imagine he playing that part you did just said, just doens't fit, the songs are made based on Paul drumms, did you knew that?
And no, Derek is not Boring.
WHO, another thing, thank you for mention Cyanide Milo...
Just try playing That song...its fuckin hard timing, and the blast is fuckin cool, IMO, damn, its hard to talk with someone who doesnt like CC.

Yeah in Cyanide he is really solid, the blastbeat wouldnt be good. Although, I think a blastbeat would be great in the tapping part of that song!

...what? No band would ever write music to drum beats
That song is probably the most brutal on the album, and it's let down by Paul's half-assed drumming. His drumming style worked with during the Barnes era when the music wasn't so technical, but now that everyone's stepped up their playing, Paul's drumming makes the band sound weaker than they are, and it's a shame
I used to love CC, hearing them turned me on to brutal death metal, but I rarely listen to them anymore because, even though the music is fucking awesome, the drums bore me to death and, in my opinion, they don't fit

Paul's drumming makes CC sound like CC because it's probably the most boring DM drumming ever
You hear those awesome guitars and bass, that raspy vocal sound, and you're thinking it's CC. Then you hear the drumming, and that's when you say 'ahh, definately Cannibal Corpse'

You scuzzy piece of filth!
Back on topic for a brief moment, I don't mind Mazurkiewiecz. He might not have been great on the last album, but it's still bullshit to say he's only built for when CC were playing simpler music. He sounded fine on Vile and Gallery, two albums that were quite tech.

I think Paul is not a bad drummer. It would be wrong to compare him to say....Nile's drummer....they are more percussion oriented (IMO). Cannibal is mostly straight guitar, and Paul is there to back it up. I do think he could put forth some more effort though....I've seen drummers play and I get a fucking stiffy...I don't get that from Paul to much though.

A lot of bands do that. Metallica writes a lot of stuff that way. Since Lars is such a limpwristed faggot these days, that's probably why they are so lame now. Even those bitches in Motley Crue made a big deal about how they wrote the entire "Dr. Feelgood" fiasco around drum beats (not that that's a good example). I also come up with most of my original shit that way because the drum beat inspires the riff...
I think Paul from CC is a really good solid and tight drummer, but he is obviously not a stand-out feature of the band.

Holy shit! Flo's one of the most hectic drummers I've ever heard in my life. I'm not a drummer but I'm tempted to get his DVD when it comes out, just to see how he does the shit he does
I just don't understand how or why anyone would do that. I would find it insanely difficult to construct music around percussion, and I'm sure alot of pther people would do too

Yeah, well Cryptopsy's shit ain't that easy to write in the first place, so I would assume writing around the percussion isn't that much harder for those guys.

The Wretched Spawn album's production was wicked. The only problem I have with that album is the lyrics. I mean they are pretty boring compaired to their old stuff. Personaly I like the Barnes' era better but that's IMO.-I am so going to get killed for that.LOL
It would be sweet if Rob came back. Or....hey I just thought of something.....stupid probably but.....imagine Cannibal Corpse as a 4-piece. It just suddenly came to me...obviously have a live second guitarist but...I think Pat could handle it..alought I personaly prefer Jack's playing to Pat's. Pat's is more technical and about speed and almost "Suffocation"-style chops. While Jack or even Rob is more about melodic and errie stuff. I was just wondering what you guys think of a 4-peice Cannibal Corpse idea. I'm not really sure personaly.

That sound strange to me, but could work well.
I just wish that Jack didn't turn to such a faggot ass, because his Riff's and Octaves fit very well to CC music along those 15 years, I think Jack and Pat made one of the best guitar partnerships of all Metal history on Bloodthirst album, now, seems that Pat will take care of the guitars for the new shit, and it'll certantly be the most brutal work to date.

Relax, you're leading this to the negative way...he was probably tired of playing in CC and decide to leave, great, for what i knew about all of this, he where into some nu-metal thing, called Adrift, i don't know, maybe he did just forgot about all that crap and decide to join Deicide just for a tour.
