I don't know how to explain this with my poor english but I'll try. How do you switch between 2 amps ? Like, without unplugging guitar and plug into the other amp. I wanna use one amp for clean sounds and the other one for high gain sounds. Is there a device for it ? Sorry if I'm being a dumbass.
I couldn't find anything with search. On the internet I found something called switchblade and headtrip ( http://www.musictoyz.com/studio/rack/ss.php ) but it's expensive shit isn't their an other way to do this ?

that headtrip thing is for if you want to run the two amps into one cab... so with amp A on, it sends it's load to the cab, while the headtrip takes the load from amp B and soaks it, then when you switch them it reverses.

the aby box allows you to split your guitar signal, anywhere before the powersection...

they can go hand in hand with each other... but if you don't need the two amps to share one cab, a simple aby box will do the trick.

heads put out power. that power has got to go somewhere. speakers or heat... with no speakers you'll fry the amp. it's especially dangerous for tube amps.

but if you want to mute one head from the cab, you can use this headtrip thing or a thd hotplate to take the load of power. that's what i ment by "soak". that way both heads can be on and cranked and you can switch between the two while they share a cab.

right...then that leads me to another question on the fx loop you need a send and return signal. where do you plug those into the other head?

On the head you are using the preamp have the send going into the return of the head that you are using as the power amp. Make sure you use the series loop and that it isn't a channel loop either. The poweramp of the master/preamp must have a dummy load so the power tubes and O/P transformer don't burn. A classic example of this is a Mesa head preamp being slaved into a Marshall head power amp.

Yup. You can just buy a good high gain preamp and have the Laney poweramp slaved to it. It's a good way of taking the best of different amps and getting a very nice tone from it that no single amp can make. Try it sometime. It is kinda a pain in the ass to move it around, not to mention expensive, but it can have some great results.

It has a good high gain so you can do alot of sounds on it. It does those bands well yes.

The powerball has nice cleans, but I think the jc-120 has a bit more character. The jc-120 isn't officialy mine. I'm borrowing it at the moment. But he's gonna trade with me for a floyd rose and an emg 81 pick-up
