whammy bar
is there any way to stop a whammy bar from going past a certain point? i know you can just tighten it up so it doesnt move, but i watned to have it be able to swing free just not be able to go past a certain point. like have it so it cant go past where the red is in the pic is that possable?

I just checked mine and see no tension or positioning nut inside.
I assume getting a Tap and Die set......slowly adding more threads until the desired stopping point is reached? Way easier said than done but seems possible.
Just a guess.

yeah, it's how you make the threaded part of a metal object--orrrr anything. The die is the screw part like a 20oz bottle, and the tap is the inside one, like the bottle cap. Either that or I have it backwards. It is though, a little4 difficult to do because if it's not perfectly level it won't work. The best thing to do would be to use a lathe cause then it could be level. Haha, and if you don't wanna spend a couple hundred bucks on all this equipment that you'll never use again, you're sol.

well... If you don't mind drilling a little in your guitar then you could drill something in there big enough so that the bar can't get past it.

The die will create the the thread on the male part (the whammy bar itself), the tap will create the thread in the hole, although you will need a tap that isn't tapered, otherwise you wont get what you want

That's correct...I forgot about that. There are dozens of shapes of threads so specific tap & die sets are needed for various jobs....prob not the best idea......I mentioned it because I remember growing up....my father was always working with that type of tool.....it was cool to watch him take a threaded rod and add more threads on it.

tape something (like a rod or bar of metal) on the body of the guitar to stop it... but it would look like shit...
