well i have a crappy old epiphone les paul 100t hat i want to fix up for the hell of it(basiclly because i have the money to do so) and i plan on having it painted by my friend. i understand that the guitar has to be sanded down before it is painted and coated but i was wondering, is there a certain type of sand paper that should be used? or would any do?

You could use the "kisekae" guitar editing thing to create a custom paintjob, here's one I made in Zakk's style, to give you an idea:

well first off how much do you have to spend? if its 'crappy' why not get a new guitar instead of redoing an older one?
