I can't but I'm soon going to try. I think I'm at the level where I can learn them. I've been playing a little under 5 years.

semi-related:
I was listening to the song Serrana by Jason Becker off the album Perspective. He made this album on a computer when he was unable to play guitar due to ALS?
He's a freaking genious. Amazing. I love his work.

Concert isn't really too good for people who really want sweeping practice, maybe sweeping for beginners, but I bet if you have been playing metal for 4 years, you would probably not be getting any better by learning it.

You are seriously full of yourself and considering that you amount to a sack of steaming, part-decomposed shit, that makes you full of shit. Which is probably an improvement for you. In fact, you make Yngwie Malmsteen look like the meak little kid who's always last picked on the sports field and who, naturally, doesn't believe in himself.
Here's a fact for you: 99.99% of people don't like braggards and egotistical twats. The other 0.01% are braggards and egotistical twats.
Here's another fact: in about an hour I'll be going to the pub to converse and have a laugh with people who respect me. In about an hour you'll still be at home trying to up you picking speed from 960 notes per minute to 961 notes per minute. Guess what the vast majority of people here would rather be doing?

That Metalshredder Kid is a douche bag pansy who need to make others feel like they cant do anything, Well i have new for that little fag, playing 16bps on 1 note doesnt count for shit, and also your 14 and you've played for 1.5 years you obviously think your great because your friends are like O GAWD DUDE your so good, your nowhere near where you think you are, and you talk about challenging people to guitar contests in your pitiful profile, I would give you a guitar contest any day of the fucking week, and i am not even that good and i know, judging by your remarks and your actual offering a contest that I would smoke your ass! Also you have no band and no album coming in stores so shut the fuck up...

Im not a fan of sweeps. You should learn them yes, but I go on the side of picking every note, but I know of Jason's work, and if some of you cats can play it thats fucking cool.
Now as for this 14 year old "guitar god", stop with your BS and go back to playing smells like teen spirit.

Sweeping is picking every note.. its just some prefer to hammer on and pull of certain notes while others pick them.

a-fucking-men
this guy is obviously a loser who parents push the shit out of him to learn guitar. you seriously need to get a life dude, staying at home 24/7 playing guitar is not fuckin cool dude. get a life.
dont get me wrong, i love playing guitar, but its not my life. i think you need to take a leaf outta my book.
and if you are that good, then why come here and brag? what do you get out of it? why do you call us lot shit just because we cannot play what you can?
i think i know the answer but your obviously gonna answer it differently.
you sum fucking dweeb whos fucking rejected by everyone and you bottle up your feelings and your only outlet is a fucking internet message board where no1 can do shit to you. you probably get the shit kicked outta you at school or sumthing.
go get laid bitch, and stop putting others down just becuase you MAY be a good guitarist. give respect to get respect and shut the fuck up in the mean time.
sum1 ban the prick, he isnt exactly treating us well

That little 14 year old just wanted mommy to love him. Except she whored him out to that old man with the wheelchair from the bus station to support her cocaine addiction.

Jason Becker fuckin rules. Documentary kicked ass. Amazing amazing musician, true genious.
I agree with the rest on who cares if someone can sweep like a mad motherfucker after a year on the guitar. To me, it's all about having fun. I play an hour or two so till i feel like quitting, then I quit, but that's what keeps it fun. I'm not burning myself out on it. Now is 14 yr old thrasher having very much fun? Or is playing guitar like washing fuckin dishes... Don't do it to be the badass, do it cause you enjoy it. No offense 14 yr old if you dig the shit as much as you give off, just showing my standpoint.

and apart from that writing music without your guitar is as easy as writing it with, you just use guitar pro or cubase, eg you put in
19-17-15-14
17-15-14-12
and it will play it back to you to see what it sounds like, same with bass, drums piano etc

Meanwhile, people who dont play 6-10 hours a day are getting laid and socializing, key parts of human life. Practicing 2 hours a day is enough. Guitar isnt meant to really be practiced that much a day. Its meant to be enjoyable. If you practice 6-10 hours a day and enjoy it, please cut your wrists up and down and lay in a bathtub and wait a few hours, then you will magically know every song ever written on guitar, and play faster than everyone!
Stfu you no-lifed little pedophile. I know that "doing something else" really means you are touching little kids at the local playground you dirty fuck.

somewhere u have a point, cuz u can play everything u want by practicing.. on the other hand making music like that (writing it, playing it perfect etc) thats the hard part.

doesnt mean you dont get any of those things, + it is enjoyable, if you dont enjoy it enough to play it then i dont know why you call yourself a guitarist,
its less than both becker and malmsteen who both play 12-14 hours a day anyway, and on top of that i said unless your doing something, which i count socialising as something and if you play say 6 hours you still have about 8 hours of your day where you arent playing guitar, it just means you dont waste your time on msn or watching tv when your in the house

Next you'll be saying that Mozart was an over-rated, talentless waste of skin, bone, muscle and sinew. You're wrong: maybe one day you'll learn to live with it.

Yea, it's on the net. I've mainly just found bittorrent files of it. Not sure if your familiar with bittorrent, but you need a client, so, ... for instance download BitComet, it's a pretty good client. use www.torrentspy.com to get the file, I think it's called "The Legendary Guitar of Jason Becker.mpg" something like that. If it's not seeded well there, check out www.torrentsearch.com PM me if you need help with bittorrent.

Here's another fact: in about an hour I'll be going to the pub to converse and have a laugh with people who respect me. In about an hour you'll still be at home trying to up you picking speed from 960 notes per minute to 961 notes per minute. Guess what the vast majority of people here would rather be doing?

ive gotto say that was a really childish comment, ive said plenty of times, most people have 16 hours of the day awake which is easily enough time to spend plenty of time doing a hobby(guitar) and socialise (which for you is pub) this bloke probably does both so give it a rest, and to be honest you seem to me to be a pathetic social climber who lives off the doal, which i cringe at, social climbers who think they are actually mr cool are more cringing than any other type of people, and no im not stereotyping or being prejudice

Oh dear. I work full-time as an accountant, you fucking retard. You only had to look in my profile, it's there for the whole world to see under the heading of, no surprises, "occupation". Generally, occupations preclude a person from spending 16 hours per day practising and/or socialising so if anybody is the "pathetic social climber who lives off the dole" it is the fuckwit that I was replying to.

How is working for somebody else wasting my life? First you assume that I'm a scrounger on the dole, and when I inform you of my employment (which happens to provide a valuable service to people in self-employment and without which many small businesses would go to the wall) you then launch into an attack on me not having my own business. Basically, you're not man enough to admit you got it wrong and so brought an irrelevant argument into your response so you didn't have to back track.
So let me get this straight, you're calling me childish? Your response was straight out of the pre-teen text book on arguing and akin to the "Yeah? Well so's your mother" retort which is often the last vanguard of defeat in an exchange.
I had some facts for our egotistical twat up there and now I have some for you: running your own business takes up even more time than if you're employed. Anybody who tells you otherwise is a fucking liar or a shit businessman in charge of a business that is either failing or just about breaking even. How do I know this? I see it day in, day out at work. So where does owning your own business allow you 16 hours per day to practise?

i run my own bussiness of a cerhome for the elderly and i pay someone to manage ot for me, so i spend less than 3 hours a week dealing with it which is alot less than you seem to be making out
anyway back to the thread, has anyone heard some of beckers versions of racer x that he wrote when he was 16

The number of people who allow other people to manage their business is a very small proportion. It's you who seems to think that every owner of a business takes a back seat and pays other people to run it. I'm happy for you that you seem to have a successful business, but it still does not answer my question of how I'm wasting my life away "working for somebody else"?

A little bit delayed but Raige you are kind of biting a hand that feeds you either way. . . that is if you value your membership. Mansley, I think you know you are cool with me but seriously drama is never cool. . . that's on my profile . Raige, by the way you were trying to "end" the arguement. . . but only so you could feel as though you were on top or superior in some way. I don't know if you intended for it to be so obvious that you wanted to have the last word but eh, you did. Anyways, later. . . Hugs not drugs. . . erg
