Tuners? How about your ears... http://www.perfectpitch.com/

I have always been curious to know how well the String Master robotic tuner works if anyone has tried one out ($50): http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7.../base_id/112719

uh, intonation isn't hard to ear-tune, regular tuning is harder!

Eh, TU-2's handy when you're onstage cause you can actually see how well you're retuning. It goes a bit spastic on the odd occasion though, which is annoying but I guess any relatively cheap tuner will do that

You can get them cheaper on eBay anyway. eBay is goooood

Yeh, cause be in tune isent important! I rather spend my money on a cool effect pedal!!1

I spent nearly $200 on my rack tuner.. and that the bottom of the barrell for rack mounted tuners.

Cheap ones are useless on a dark stage when I need to retune between/during songs

get a guitar that stays in tune

I don't know why rack tuners are that expensive actually. I got one in my flightcase but I hardly use it, except on gigs and well, I don't have to re-tune at all.

I think Behringer makes them too, they're cheap. I mean, behringer is crap but I don't see how a tuner could be crappy.

Hahaha, yeah I could do that :P But in the band I play in at the moment, I tend to beat the shit out of my guitar and that knocks the strings out. New machines and a graphite nut are next on my shopping list for that one, but at the moment I don't have any money to be spending on guitar stuff D: And if I did, I'd be ordering my Ran :P

Cheap tuners can't determine a note from it's harmonics as well as the more expensive ones. I remember my old guitar teacher telling me that the tuner I had at the time was confusing an E for an A because A is a dominant harmonic in the note of E. Or something like that... but the more expensive tuners have better filters in them to isolate the desired note for tuning

I believe that is utter bullshit.

my 20 bucks crappy tuner tunes just as good as my DTR. even in automatic mode!

maybe the level of accuracy is higher on racktuners but I hardly hear the difference.

No, I was being mildly sarcastic. Those perfect pitch ads in the guitar rags always crack me up because they come across so cheesy. If anyone has done that perfect pitch or used the robotic tuner, please speak the fuck up...

once I get my guitar in tune with my korg tuner, its pretty in tune.. playing along with CDs, with other guitarists, checking its accuracy on my keyboard.. its pretty decent.

A chromatic tuner will tune to any note; C, C#, D etc, whereas some, usually cheap, guitar tuners only tune to standard guitar tuning

some people obsess to much over tuners... a $300 rack tuner wont tune you up any better than my $50 boss tuner(not pedal nor rack)... period. test it for yourself, guitar--->tuner X----->tuner Y, ect... sure the strobe shit is cooler looking and easier to read, but i have more important shit to buy than a fancy tuner.

with that extra $250 i saved i can buy a shit load of glow sticks to cram inside my triamp

If you want to look like a dick by switching off your amp, unplugging your guitar, plugging in a tuner and straining to read it because it's dark, then plugging everything back in and turning on only to find that you're not in tune, sure, go for the shitty $10 tuner. Otherwise go for something that you can see in the dark and is plugged into your guitar all the time

even most cheap tuners have lights and you can use your fx loop.

works fine.

though I do use a racktuner, it's actually one of my worsts buys ever. my guitar stays in tune flawlessly, haha
