In response to Transients idea, which do you guys prefer?

If i want to see a clown i go to the circus. Music is more important to me than the regular running - showoff.
Anyway the guys from Iron Maiden are an exception. They run around like crazy but play almost flawless

Playing properly, although the situations you describe are somewhat extreme, most guitarists will move around a bit. Such as swapping the side of the stage that they are standing on.

I like them to run around a little and I don't mind if they screw up a little, if I want to hear the song perfect I'll just listen to the cd. I go to shows to have fun and I like it better when the band acts crazy

Best option though is a guitarist who can run around and still be accurate...I'm still amazed at how those guitarists can do that...I try to headbang or anything while playing and boom I start to screw up.

My sister saw Slash fall off of the stage in 87 when GnR opened for The Crue....she said he played lying on the floor and the security guys hoisted him back up and he never really stopped jamming.....said he was wasted obviously and stumbled all night but played wonderfully.....but I wasnt there so....could've been Izzy rocking.
I like stage antics but agree with the Maiden comment....I've seen tons of Maiden video and those guys are near perfection with flawless stage presence.

For me its the music, not the stage show.

its live i expect some fuck ups, but not all the time cause your too busy running around, granted i know when your into it you gotta move and jam and shit but still...

look at angus young man, hes all over the palce and can still play damn good, even if his shit aint that technical

i suppose its a tie though, alot of the time your too into the show aswell to notice some fuck ups look at slayer, tom sings the wrong verse all the time and noone notices

and even if band's do screw up a solo or chord
it show's that they are actually playing live and not miming.

You guys should be too busy slamdancing to even notice whether or not the guitarist is running around.

I dont know how he does that, plays every solo flawless while he headbangs as hard as he can.


Mistakes made because you are on stage and in the mix of a live performance is a fuckload different than mistakes made because you are getting too into the crowd or showing off too much. Just had to point that out.

i personally think that if you would screw up running around, then don't. but its fun to watch when they do, slayer wither switch sides of the stage when their playing, or they go beside eachother.. steve vai sometimes goes on his knees.. and maiden those crazy bastards gotta love them

Fuck i chose the wrong one, i meant to choose the 2nd option. I prefer it if they put on a good show, cause if i wanted to hear the music i could just listen to there CD, but when i see them live i want a good show. I dont prefer them to screw up, but if it happens it happens, no matter what there always gonna be as good as they were on the recordings, what does it matter if they screw up putting on a good show, you already know what the band can do.

running around is cool, funny etc but the sound is most improtant (although i slamdance and headbang alot im mostly talking about live videos and dvds)

i think its good to see a guy go nuts on his music, but then again
say that person would be me, i would go for playing the sick as its supose to be without fucking up solos and riffs, whats more important to cshow the crowd that u can play music like u would dop on ur album, instead of showing what a fucking idiot u can be
