Strings for C & E Tunings
Hey guys, i'm looking for new strings for my 2 guitars.
I'm currently using GHS strings (10-46) on my ESP w/ No Tremolo tuned in E but they are not tight enough. Any suggestion? Maybe another brand?
I also have a brand new Jackson Warrior with Floyd that i want to tune in C. Which strings would give me enough tightness for fast alternate picking in C?
Thanks in advance.

10 not tight enough in E
look for GHS bomers 010,5 that should be a little bit tighter i guess
i dunno where ur from, in from holland and their completely unavailable here, unles i have sumone from america send em over or sumtin.
and for C i use to play 12 -56 in C and they felt bout the same as 010 in E (10-46)
u could try some sites of companys that make strings to see their gauges and compare them etc
what warrior do u have???
i have a usa 1
u have a pic of it??

We don't have 10.5 around here. I think i'll try some 13-56 in C so it should give me some room to tune in B for some AtTheGates.
Unfortunately, we dont have a lot of choice around here
I have a pretty stock Warrior XT in Transp. Red i bought today. I'll put some Active EMG's.. 81/85 or 81/89 would work best?

I use Ghs 11's for my guitar, I tune down to B and they really arent floppy at all.
But I had to file the nut down a little bit to make the strings fit.

EMG 81 (Bridge) 89 (Neck) is the best
its better than the 81/85 combo because the 89 is just like the 85, but with coil tap ability.
so i would go for the 81/89 combo, its more versitile

does anyone use 9's for standard E. Do thicker strings help out picking, I mean can you alternate pick better with a thicker string? I've always used 9's and now I'm trying to work on my picking and notice it's kinda sloppy...

i use 12-56's ernie ball "not even slinkys" now... whether i'm in E standard or drop B they feel great, they don't fart out and they don't get to tight.
normally i play Eb standard. but i find myself changing that all the time, it just depends on who i'm jamming with and what they tune to. so i have to have strings that can adapt.
i'm a FIRM believer in BIG STRINGS = BIG TONE.

Yeah, when my Ran come's I'll experiment with different strings, 'cause 9's are kinda sloppy.

i personaly like tight strings better for playing fast. trem picking and sweeping is a lot easier and faster with say 010 in E

I use D'Addarios, 12-46, does me fine for tuning E-C, but i'd prefer them to be a little tighter in the lower tunings Nice strings though!

some time ago they had some ghs zakk wylde signature strings in a store here in germany, the 3 lower strings were thicker and the 3 high strings normal
they had to sorts, the 10-60 and 10-70
i tried the 10-60 but i used a normal tuning and they were just to fat.
so i came back to d'addario 9-46
maybe that would be a solution for dropped tunings..

i used to love d'addarios. i still think they're great strings. but when i bought my parker, my friend advised i try some not even slinky's and some blue steels... the ernie balls are probably my favorite now. havent broken a single one since i put them on the guitar a couple months ago. they still play sleek, and sound great(i give alot of this credit to the parker).
playing on big strings all the time makes switching to a guitar with .09's or .10s feel so easy. almost to easy. so easy i don't really like it.

I found the opposite, i used to use ernie balls, but i found that they broke too often, so i switched to the d'addarios and i've only broken one so far

well, i used to do the slinky thing(.09's and .10's) and they broke all the time. but the not even slinkys seem to be completely different.
but that's how it goes. if there was one set of strings that suited everyone perfectly. we'd all use them.
