Thumbs up Ibanez RGT42DX

Hi everyone! This is my first post. Before I ask my question, I'd just like to say that Metaltabs seems to be the best Metal forum on the net! Keep it up!!

My question is about the Ibanez RGT42DX model. Seeing the specifications, I'd say it's one of the best Metal guitars I can get.
Here's the link to the info page:
http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/produ...X_BP_a_e_u.html

Since I'd like to downtune it to B, I wanted to see whether anyone here owns one and tunes it to that note and whether it's possible to use gauge 13 strings on it. Whether they fit.

Thanks!

Theres one with a fixed bridge if you dont want the hassle that comes with a Floyd but go for it if you like whammy madness. Its a good guitar for the price.

yep, gauge 13 strings should be fine as long as you tune no higher than B.

yay, a noobie that isn't retarded!

if you know how to set up floyds well, then there should be no reason you can't tune use 13's and tune to B.

Alex,

These guys have it for $594.99.

Of course the price depends on where one's at and where one's buying it from. But nevertheless, it's an estimate.

Cheers!

Why not a string thru or a standard? sure they're limited, but they aren't as hard to maintain. You can play in B tuning on a string thru but you can't get as thick strings as you would want (11s, maximum). also the strings would be really loose i would imagine even with that guage.

I am however gonna get the RGA121VLF sometime soon. I play a schecter now.

Since when can you not go higher than 11s on a guitar without a Floyd?

Thanks, buddy. Actually, after deciding on that particular guitar, the local dealer told me he couldn't get it for me, because it was limited to Asia or that in order to get it, he'd have to buy 50 guitars, all of the same colour etc. I don't know. I was thinking of saving a bit more and going for a Jackson USA Series. The features are top notch. Mahogany body, neck-thru, ebony fretboard, EMG 81/85, Original Floyd Rose and I think that's about it. God knows how long it will take til I save up for it though

Jackson are way too expensive in my opinion. Their USA Series Soloist costs 3, 000 $. But of course, you get a mahogany body, original floyd rose, neck-thru construction, ebony fretboard and so on and so forth. Ibanez guitars ain't that bad and they seem to be the best value for money guitars. That's why I see a lot of bands use their guitars. A Jackson USA Series guitar is better. It all depends on one's budget I guess.
