Ive listened to about every clip and heard a death metal band in person, I don't get this craze about it. The distortion sounds compressed as fuck and each the distortion while decent for rythym is dry for lead. It sounds like playing a Roland Cube 15 on low volume (not the exact distortion but the dryness rather).

I don't think many people here don't like the powerball...

i can garantee you, your the only one here that thinks they suck, where did you find those clips? the ones from rocksolid amps (is that the site im thinking of?) are good but could be better imo, also that one band may not have had it tweaked to something 'good'

I played personally a couple of times in my friend house and the distortion is very good and tight you have to improve your Palm muting on such tight distortions i think it is very good deal for the money (unless yu can afford a diezel :P).But you have to play first and then judge.It was a bit "cold" but it is better in brutal distortion than marshall tsl100 and quieter than 5150.

they're built to be very tight and compressed... why? because those are often considered positive things in the high gain realm. and imo, the powerball fits that nitch perfectly.. it does what it's designed to do. and it does a great job at it.

personally, it's not my "dream amp", but i would never say any engl product "sucks".

clips will never do an amp justice.. and neither will seeing a band live with that rig... nothing will beat playing an amp yourself. there is no substitute for personal experience.

yea, you also have to take into account what the band has for guitars,pu's, other rack/pedal gear
