ok i have a marshall 8008 poweramp(transistor)

but its not loud enough to go over a drummer(not that i have a band or anything i just wanna know for the future.. who knows)

is that cuz im using a transistor poweramp??
is a tube poweramp louder?? (i guess so, cuz tube amps are louder aswell)
could it be cuz im running it over a 2x12 marshall cab(140 wats) instead of a 4x4 cab

andhow bout the differens of a say 2x 50 watt tube poweramp, and a 2x80 watt transistor poweramp, is that gonna matter for the cab?? (i mean, is the volume difference(if any) gonna matter compared to the watts??)

if im being unclear and stuff. sry.. im no good at explaining

i can't think of any reason a 2x80w s.s. poweramp pushing a 2x12 wouldnt be loud enough to jam with a drummer.

maybe something isnt working right... how are your levels on your preamp? what preamp are you using? are your ohms matched?

experiment with cab placement too... when you sober up of course

im using a marshall 9001 preamp (yeah know its crap)
my master volume on my preamp is all the way open, so is my poweramps volume, my mt2 volume is open althe way aswell. my clean channel volume isnt open al the way though (cuz of the 160 watts running through a 140watts cab, I dont wanna blow it up or anything (if thats even possible)


im not sure if the ohms of my cab match the poweramps, my cabs ohms is 16
my poweramp says sumtin like 4 ohms min (i guess thats for each channel)

i just didnt think it was loud cuz when some kid watching me play started randomly bashing some drumset i had some trouble hearing my guitar.. maybe its just me

How high are you mids on the eq?

i use a metalzone2 most of the time.. mids all the way open
