Marshall 1936 + which power amp?

Right, so i've just got my Marshall 1936 cab, and im trying to look for a power amp to go with my POD for it. However, im struggling to find a power amp that fits my requirements, because the cab is 8ohms mono, or 16ohms stereo, and most power amps seem to be 4\8ohms... does anyone happen to know of any power amps that are 8\16ohms?

are you looking at tube or s.s. poweramps? how much do you have to spend? what kind of sound are you going for from your poweramp(sterile or something with a lil' color)?

my old peavey 50/50 was switchable between 4 8 and 16 ohm per side or 2 4 and 8 in bridged mono. nice poweramp for the buck. built pretty well and sounded great.

it's always best to get them right on with each other, but if you must mismatch it's always better to mismatch like 8 ohm poweramp to 16 ohm cab or 4 ohm poweramp to 8 ohm cab... in that direction you might lose a bit of power and the sound will change a bit, but it probably wont damage anything..

Well, i think a sterile sound will be better for my rig (the POD already having cab sims and it going into a cab rather than a PA), i've got about £150-£200 ($280-$370USD approx.) to spend. I'll see if i can find one of those Peavey 50/50, cause that sounds ideal for my purposes (im gonna do your w/d/w idea eventually, so it'll be more useful for that).

Yea, i know that its 'acceptable' to have too much impedance on the output, but not to have too little, i may have to resort to that if i can't find anything within my price range.
