Fade To Black Solos
I'm very curious how you do some of the Metallica - Fade To Black solos. those fast ones that are closing to the end, I can't imagine where to tap because wherever I try to do it, I get a very slight sound, and it seems very... weird. Most of those at the end.
Same for the Call Of Ktulu solos (and I don't mean the intro or those like it... but those very fast ones).

Keep practising - early Metallica solos are excellent for cutting your soloing teeth with. Just break down the solo into easily digestable pieces - try splitting it into segments of one or two bars at a time - and then play it slowly until you have it exactly right. Then move onto the next two bars and once you master those combine the first two bars with the second two. Continue this until you have the whole solo.
Once you master it at, say half speed, then it's only a matter of time before you can translate it up to full speed. This is a very useful technique and can be applied by any player regardless of ability and to any solo regardless of difficulty. Try it and see!

if you are getting a soft sound, its becuase youre fretting so fast you arent pushing down enough. play it slow, i promise it helps!!

Can any of you guys play the 1st solo in Battery at a decent speed? I find it really challenging.

just practice slow and increase speed when it's PERFECT.otherwise it'll come out weak.metallica isn't hard anyway so you should be able to do it without too much trouble

no reason for panic if something doesn;t work out.. as long it is not as speeds like van Halen or michael angelo, anything can be done by playing it over and over again
