Is there any sort of cosmetic product or something for your fingernails that puts the coating back on them. I don't use a pick to play, and I've recently damaged my index nail pretty bad, so that the coating worn off the top (happens every once in a while). Its not a really big deal, but it kind of feels like fingernails on a chalk board when I play (especially on older nails). So, any ideas or suggestions, remember, its not really a huge deal, more of a small annoyance.

Sure...there are several products but it's my opinion none work very well.
There are clear coats and layering them "could" add but you have to do it right.
Give alot of time between coats so it's as hard as it going to get....then lightly scuff it before applying the next so it adhears correctly for max effect.

The products that claim to give you "healthy" nails are bogus IMO as fingernails are dead cells.....only the little light colored area at the base are living cells.

I could be wrong too.....lol

Talk to some Flamenco guys. I had a Classical/Flamenco instructor who kept his right hand nails grown out and hardened them with nail polish of some type. Those muthafuckas know the real deal on that shit.

But seriously, fuck all that and play with a pick...

I do a lot of fingerpicking, and I just find it a lot more accurate to use my index nail instead of a pick (when not fingerpicking).

I know a few good ways to fix broken nails, but no luck as of yet for the coating.
