Immortal - pure holocaust
hey,
I've been handling double bass very well at high speeds, don't ask me wich bpm or something like that. I'm guitarist normaly and I've been drumming for a half year now.
I know this blast and i can get realy nice speeds with it:
HH-x---x----x----x----x----
SD---x----x----x----x------
BD-R---L----R----L----R----
but i dont know how to do those extreme fast things like
'unsilent storms in the north abyss' from immortal.
Could anybody tell me??

try this at first ;P
Well, what you mean is something like this I think (never heard that album).
HH *-*-*-*
SN *-*-*-*
BD ******
Or
HH *-*-*-*
SN *-*-*-*
BD *-*-*-*
But that needs a lot of practise and the right technique you should learn.

A Blast that I use at high speeds is-
Crash *~*~*~*~ Every second snare hit
Snare ******** Single hand blast
Kicker ******** Alternating feet
It's a nice blast beat, because the only thing limiting the speed of it is how fast you can get your snare hand going. Your feet do half the work, and so does your cymbal hand.

Fuck that. It sounds king-like when I do it.
Besides, I'm in Heaps of Dead, not Repulsion.

One footed blasts are for real men. Unless you do just straight double bass which is fine. But alternating feet? Psshht.

hehe but alternating is just a very better option when you;re just drumming for a half year, and it sounds real cool when you record it

Flo and Talley are using two footed I think.
I use two footed.
It sounds like one footed .
I´m not as fast with my feet as with my hands...
And it`s costs a whole lot of condition with one foot.
Btw.
it sounds a lot better, if you hit the cymbal as fast as the snare not every second hit a cymbal.

werd to tha coon-dog
Well, I have to be honest here... I've only got about a year of drumming experience, so I do some of my blasts like that for a few reasons.
Alternating feet is alot less work, for one thing. My left hand is gay, and I can't get it to go fast enough to match the speed and keep it clean.
(I use my right hand on snare)
Before anyone starts hammering on me- I don't give a fuck. I do what I have to, to make our shit sound absolutely brutal. I know I need to work on left hand speed, and I practice all the time, but either way, for now, that is how I blast.

Er Flo only 2 foots when he is hyper blasting (which is fair enough) I am pretty sure Talley is the same.
Now will enlighten you as to why single foot is better:
When you are using one foot you can use your left foot to do other cool stuff like say Hi Hat stuff or left foot bass stuff or if you haev it a Blast block or other stuff, if you are 2 footing you don't have this option, hence 2 footed blasts unless you are hyperblasting is GHEY!!!!

I actually have more trouble doing 2 footed blasts than one footed. I tried 2 footed for the first time last week and i didnt like it at all.

Like everything, you should start with it slowly and slowly ad more speed. I dum an hour each day and I could blast fast in a few days.

I think you saw like me a video...
I really want something to listen to from you...
some one footed blasts.
and if I said, I´m not as fast with my hands like with my feet.
So I´m practising at it, but I just feel MORE COMFORTABLE, with doing two footed Blast.
Also I think the whole discussion is unessecary (how`s that damn word spelled?).
And those things I listen to from Talley, sounded like a two footed, because I dont think, that somebody except roddy could play as tight as this with one foot.
Also I think Flo is doing two all the time...

Talley does one footed shit out teh ass, you can hear it all over the Overthrow ep. You can totaly tell when he switches to two feet and it sounds like one big blurr.

I use alternate feet for blasting, but sometimes I reach speeds like Brodequin and I can't follow with one foot. My hands are better than my feet anyways.

That's what I'm talking about. When I blast, I blast fucking fast, so I don't need to justify using two feet. I'm happy with it the way it is for now.

I think it;s just depending on what you are playing. Most slayer and kreator blastbeats are easy with one foot and not very fast. But talking about bands like windir and immortal, i just don't think that's possible with one foot.

slayer don't blast
Morbid angel blasting is doable very easily, it is all in the ankles, with one foot.
it is just time and practice.

except that ISN"T what slayer player they play this:
HH X-X-X-X
SN --X -- X
BD X -- X
that is the thrash beat, what you have written is a blast, but only if you are playing it at higher tempos,
