What should I buy!? RAWR!!! #2
Okay okay now Ive got it down to two things, and its both pickups but its a question of brand and sound. The ever so asked question about EMG or Duncan!? EMG or Duncan!? But this is not totally the case, you see I announced in the swedish guitar builders forum that I want to buy a SD JB/Jazz set. I haven't got any answers because it seems theres no one who sells one, or my price isn't right whatever. Heres the deal:
I can buy a set of EMG 81's, with everything included stereojack, pots, wires etc. for 1450 SEK (roughly 200$) which is below the price of a new tremspaced JB.
Or I can buy one tremspaced JB for little less than 100$ without any pots although I already have them in my guitar.
Both of these cost bout half the price they take in the stores, and ive seen that lots of people trade 2 passive pickups for one active around here so If i'm not content with my sound I could get 2 SD's for one of my emg 81's and sell the other one.
I guess I'm going with the EMG's because its a pretty good price for being around here and I do like the sound that alot of bands get out of them. I dont care about them being all the rage and nu-metal shitbands use them, if I decide I don't like them I will trade them for something else.
Now whats your view of the whole thing? I know BLS is gonna tell me SD! SD! But just say something.

i say go for the emgs for 3 reasons:
1.) good sound
2.) good resale/trade value
3.) sL!PK|\|0t use them

Used, a pair of 81's, with all stuff included. And I chose the EMG's because it was a good price (for being in sweden) and I like the sound. Nobody was selling JB/Jazz but if anyone did I would have bought them.
That shit about EMG used to make a mediocre amp sound great and SD's to make a great amp sound better sounds like bullshit to me. Its all a personal preference.

Im not anal about SD's im just anal about my pickup preferences. I like versatilite and a big open tone.
Something EMG's dont provide me.

i like the tight well balanced and clear, low noise, yet hot sound that emg's give... just not as much as other pickups in my ibanez's...
but it's all about prefference... there are reasons why i don't sport emg's...
