Power groove

Could someone explain exactly what a power groove is and give some exaples of songs and bands that use it. I know it was a pantera thing but I don't understand what songs they did were power groove other than revolution is my name and I'm not sure about that.

I believe that's a term for a perfect mosh moment in a song. If so, Dying Fetus and Lust Of Decay have plenty of "power groove" moments.

I believe that's just another silly genre fagdancing term that could be applied to anything powerful and groovy.

I heard the term thrown around a few times but never explained. As far as genres are concerned I believe they limit alot of musicians in the metal world example by simply everyone saying that children of bodom are black metal or whatever the majoritiy is calling them. What if they wanted to switch to playing more blues or pop orientated stuff they wouldn't be recognized anymore. But in a world filled with people who need to categorize everything we have no choice alot of times but to join in when it comes to music. And some people can be categorized like cannibal corpse it's safe to say they are death metal. But unique music like bodom or similar things it's unfair to label them as one thing. By the way I have a limited knowledge of music so no better examples. But what's worse than people labeling a band is a band labeling themselves again alexi in a interview said that they are black metal.

I think power groove implies just a simple headbanging song. Think Black Label Society.

something that is simple and easy to headbang/nod to. think of "demise of the clone"

usually galloping riffs

I always thought it was like power metal buy with a groove to it, like Mouth For War, you know the sliding chords and the verse.

But i think Pantera called their selves that because they were stil trying to hold onto the power metal style of their earlier albums.
